conroy...

with some trouble, i have finally figured out what the problem is with the video - too big. my coworker can get it down for me... i'll post it here when it's done. it's not like it's a scream or anything, you can just hear me yelling at kanye.

thanks!
Perfect, that's exactly what I was hoping! Yelling at Kanye. I can't wait to see/hear it!!!! That might be the assignment for the next gig like this. Have everyone set up their videocameras to record their tvs and having their responses off-camera, sorta like Mystery Science Theater 3000

The Police gig was the most emotive presentation on live earth, and people gave the band a charm & cool welcome!

One World

Postby Jennythenipper on 11 Jul 2007 13:15

I was just thinking this a.m. that One World would have been the perfect song for Live Earth.

Especially the verse:

I don't want to bring a sour note/
remember this before you vote/
we can all sink or we all float/
cause we're all in the same big boat

Talk about prophetic. It's global warming in a tidy, tight little verse.

Beside that song rocks. It's always been one of my faves from Ghosts.

Yeah. I've been a bit bummed we haven't got to hear that one. Maybe someday they'll mix up the setlist.

Jenny, good call on One World. It would have been a perfect song for them to play.

My pleasure. I'm hopelessly addicted to SC.net and all the fine folks here. In between doing my work, I'm scouring the 'net, refreshing the SC forums and occasionally logging on to drop some goodies.

I especially liked the wireimage photos of Stew and the Gores. I'm sure Stew gave him an earfull at that brunch!

Yeah, I'd have loved for it to replace Spirits. It would be better live than Invisible Sun as well, and far more appropriate to their Water Aid montage.

Hi guys,

I watched the perfomance for a 4th time last night.

Here are some humble thoughts.

Stewart in my eyes is the 2nd coming, he is THE reason!

I thought vocally Sting was ok. Bass wise I listened to it live first on computer speakers and then a few times in hd 5.1. The 5.1 really helped hear his reggae style thumb playing come out. Live is this hard to follow since the a pick or regular 2 finger plucking would "cut through more?

Andy seemed to me a little off. Not sure how these segue's in the songs are really helping show anything musically from Andy. The dynamics seem to be lost and his solo's are nothing to write home about (IMO)

The Kanye guest appearance for me, is atrocious. I thought he completely violated the song and its flow. With boring lines.

John Mayer was doing great little lines on guitar at the end, something I would have hoped Andy would be doing when they play those 2chord dissonant "jam parts.

Overall I found the crowd on tv to look bored compared to the London crowd which may have influenced Sting's excitement. They were def more up for the police set, but overall they seemed distant

From the live boots and samples of this tour, one thing is guaranteed. Stewie brings it every night. I just hope the other 2 rise to his level for the upcoming msg shows.

Don't get me wrong. They were better than 95% of the other bands on the bill, but I had to be honest in my reaction.

Andrew

Tormenting doubt inspired by One World

Postby Kalypso on 11 Jul 2007 18:41

..and sorry if the subject might already have been discussed but I don't have too much time to catch up with all the threads.
Well..we know Stingo and Andy don't vote here in the US. I don't vote either, but have my ideas...
There was some thread about politics on the forum. I have read many times on the internet extremely insisghtful observation by Stew that have left my friends speechless. He seems absolutely on the spot about the current state of affairs and also adds information many are not privy to (I remember one about the role of Syria).

Although he is obviously very open minded, knowing his family background, though, and the fact that Ian was a Nam Vet, could he be...vote...Republican?

Could Stewart be a Republican? It's possible as you say, family background and all. But the lyric "remember this before you vote" was written by Sting and I think we all know which side of the political divide he falls on....

I like to think of Stewart as someone who is truly independent. I know what you're saying about him being spot on about things and probably better informed than your average celebrity as well.

And who knows he may have some totally wild card off the wall candidate he supports or not vote at all...

He is very pro-U.S.A. per his very words. And I know he supports the US presence in the Middle East. He knows better: he sounded like a political reporter. His brother was a war hero. I would be very surprised if he voted Democrat. But you never know. Maybe another "difference" with Stingo, who is certainly liberal, pro-environment, pro-mind altering substances, and pro-wife swapping:lol:
The only "Stewart-like" statement was the one about Osama Bin Laden going to his same school. Stewart said: "I did not know him, but if I had, I would have kicked his a$$".

Well we are in danger of hijacking this thread completely with politics, but I can't think of a single US administration dem or Republican that was against a US presence in the Middle East. Also having grown up in Beirut in Lebannon I'd be interested to hear his views on Israel. So now that I've dropped a grenade in the thread I'll just tip toe out quietly and say as apolitically as possible: "Police rule. Love you Stew. The Krypton Forum Rocks."

I have no qualms about it and respect any opinion. Politics is part of life. Stewart's background and the path he has chosen (or fate has chosen for him) are so different it's mind-boggling. The schizo tendency of having an alter ego are omnipresent in his life story. Or in the Wardrobe post in this forum. You always think he is 2 different people.
Sonja said they parted because he was becoming more and more a Polo-person, while she was more and more a coffee-house person.
Other thing that made me think...don't know many liberals who play polo...
But he also drums as if he were two people *together...

Sorry guys, I don't know how to make my avatar smaller...but can you really complain?
