OT - Led Zeppelin reunion "virtually certain"

According to The Times, Led Zep is almost certain to reunite, with Jason Bonham on drums:

This will be HUGE but unlike Andy, I think Jimmy's best days are WAY behind him. I love Jimmy, but I probably won't be willing to pay anywhere near the price I did for the Police. I will probably be willing to shell out for the cheapest tickets just due to the curiosity factor. BTW, I actually like jason Bonham (much better than a Phil Collins and Tony Thompson combo).

Thanks theEqualizer,

Awesome news to me!! But I can't go to UK in November.
If they started tour earlier, I could see them too. Ahhhhhhh.
I hope the Police and Led Zep will come to Japan soon.

I love Robert Plant, King of Rock singer. I don't know if Jimmy can play now as he played at best. But still Led Zep is the another concert I couldn't see and really wanted to see.

Rumors are running rampant, whether I'll go see them if ir comes about. Not sure.

Eq, agree the PC TT combo at Live Aid wasn't good. It may have been not enough rehearsal time.
Jason Bonham does kick some serious butt as I recall, seeing the Atlantic records 40th anniversary show on TV many moons ago.
A mind full of useless information.

When Jason dropped DW for Ludwig and started using a modified Bonzo logo on the front head - I knew something was up. I think JPJ is an underated bass player, he an JB sure could groove.

We'll see how it goes- How old is Mr. Plant now??

I heard some song clips from the soon to be released Robert Plant/Alison Kraus album which sounded quite good. There's some new musical territory being covered which sounded refreshing and I have to say that Robert's vocals were amazing and the definite highlight for me.

I think I'd need to hear some clips or something before I'd shell out major money on this. With the Police, besides my obvious mania, I had just seen Sting in 2005 and a lot of times before that so I knew he was still in good shape, taking care of himself, etc.

But you never know. I saw the Who for the first time in 1989 on their 25th anniversary tour. I think we thought that would be their last. Then I saw them in 2000, on a last minute thing. Then in 2006 I was still hearing good things and saw them again and wasn't disappointed. (I'm sure it's different than 30 years ago but I was seven then so it really doesn't matter!)

It is happening. 8)
A contingent of groups is reuniting (apart from LZ and Van Halen, the E-Street band, the Eagles, unfortunately Genesis, etc). The Police have opened the floodgates.

Looking forward to the collaboration between Plant and Alison Krauss too. I think Plant has still a lot of good things to give. With Jimmy? Do not underestimate a Legend.

You've got to admire the way the group has kept the flow of information under control. Anything other than that and it's like having a root canal everyday for 2 years in a row! (Or longer...)

I'm over the moon for sure!
:D

Can't wait, can't wait

I hate saying this, because they are probably still my biggest influence and first band I fell in love with but - I'm not gonna hold my breath. SOOO many times Zep fans have had rumors flying around since the mid 80s, some low-key some feverish. Its always been derailed by one thing or another ...

I still believe the closest I've come to seeing them (at age 32) and will ever see them was during the Page/Plant tour of 96. With the Police and Van Halen reunions, does it make it more plausible that it will happen? It just turns the rumor-mill faster

Now whats this I hear about american Police dates being announced on the radio? A friend of mine said that tickets were going on sale this upcoming weekend for San Antonio - is this for real?????

I told you it was happening...I have my sources... 8)

The tickets will be much more than $125. It is going to be a lottery, and it probably will be for a benefit.
Half the world of rock music followers would die to go (Pete for me is even more important, but I guess I will see the Who)....
Everybody will be upstaged. No reunion was EVER more dreamed of than this. I think The Police have put the bug in their ear too.
I bet even Stewart would concur (I don't know if he likes Bonzo, but you cannot deny he is one of Those).

At least they will take OFF Britney Shears, Kanye Fuck and .5 Cents from all the magazines.

It's a one off gig in the memory of the record company head Ahmet Ertegun who died - not sure a tour will come out of it - but they would be mad not too!

Nov 26th - London O2 Arena is the date and place.

http://www.ahmettribute.com/ has the details on how to register to get in on the ballot for the tickets. I checked the price in tonights newspaper and is says £125...

Although when I tried the webpage it had crashed already!!
