The dark sky opened and let heaven in to Fenway Park last night. The weather that attempted to conspire was foiled and the greatest of concerts began. Not able to meet up with my flag signing peers for I arrived 40 minutes too late, I sought out my seats for the show. Sting's son (who I spoke with after his act) said that they were honored to be one of the few acts to perform at Fenway. Sting himself called it "Hallowed Ground" and spoke about their first performance at the Rathskeller ("The Rat") and later performances at the Paradise, Orpheum and Sullivan Stadium. That's when I turned around and said to my fellow fans: "August 10, 1983. 4PM. A Flock of Seagulls. The Fixx. The Police" That was 24 years ago and I am here today." Everyone around me was aglow with warm smiles for the smile on my face was so vibrant that Sting, Stewart and Andy could feel it radiate from my seat on the right side of the stage in section A1. But it was unfortunate that I was far enough away from them that they couldn't see it for that would have set their hearts a glow for time immortal. The concert for me was a spiritual one and one of healing. I realized that I was deeply hurt when after seeing them perform one and only one time, I could never see them again. That was until last night when the stars colluded with the clouds to make me happy again.
THANK YOU - STEWART, ANDY and STING!
