"A Lesson In Capitalism" or "How I Got to T.O

Well after reading Kalypso's post I got an idea.
Not the one I got last night after a few martini's (not dirty one's BTW) but rather a more logical idea while out for a run at noon.

How To Get To T.O. In November:

1. Sell Crap Lying Aroung The House On Ebay
I know I have lot's of stuff...especially electronic guy crap....that I don't use that someone might find useful.
Snap a few pics, write up a description, and get selling.

2. Buy Crap...Sell It For A Profit
One good site is www.steepandcheap.com where I usually buy popular stuff....keep one.....sell the other two to mitigate my shipping costs as I have to ship twice for restricted items that typically don't ship to Canada.
If you buy Arc'teryx, Oakley, or other label oriented items they can usually sell for more than you got them.
Sounds desparate but hey.....how bad do you want to go????
You can justify to your hubby based upon all the hard work you did that you deserve to go.

3. Start a "Kalypso To T.O. In November" Paypal Fund
Hell I'll donate $20 and I am sure others might donate as well.
If you don't make it it can be funneled off to one of Stuart's recognised outfit's.

So get going grrrrrlllll!!!!

Any other idea's?

This is too funny. I was playing the same mental game yesterday after a very depressing trip to the bank. I was greatly cheered by the arrival of pink trainers in the mail last evening, but depressed to see that tube sox have not and I'm poor, poor, poor for quite a while to even afford a pair of tube sox.

I came up with a couple ideas.

1) Ebay baby stuff my kid has outgrown. I have been saving a lot of the primo good stuff from boutiques for people I know who are having kids, but fuck em. Are they the Police? Can they play the Can't Stand Losin/Regatta Medley so as to make me collapse in weeping? I doubt it. Last time I ebayed I made $200 standing on my head. But of course, lI spent it all on Ebay. Just like a casino, the house always wins.

2) Take all shoes that I outgrew when I got pregnant to consignment store. In case you can't tell by my avatar, I have a lot of shoes. I grew half a size when I had Roberto, and of course my immediate reaction was "wahooo! all new shoes!" And yet I haven't parted with most of my 5.5s for some unknown reason. But the Police in Atlanta ("Alright. Georgia.") is a good reason to convert them to cash.

3)Sell t-shirts on cafe press. I have turned the occasional t-shirt idea into a nice little earner (A fifty dollar check here and there). But I have a bunch of ideas backlogged just waiting to see the light of day.
How To Get To T.O. In November:

-Sell my soul to highest bidder on ebay (currently sub-let to Mephistopheles)
-Become Canadian gigolo and sell my body to the night
-Apply at Canadian Tire (crappy tire) for new position as the husband in those stupid commercials
°My kid wants to be an influencer.
What the hell does that mean?
°It means I’ve failed as a parent.

Does anybody here who is hyper organized about money actually have a "police" line item in their budget?

I have a friend who was a budget nazi and her husband had to put a Mr. Misty line item in his budget.

Yup. The worst thing is though, that least week0-end in a fit of cleaning and organizing, I recycled most of my boxes. What was I thinking. Having the box makes a perfect mailer, plus, I think it adds a bit of value.

You guys really crack me up!!!
It is not a matter of money, at least for me, I am a spender and have my bank account (yes, I get chastised for, but then it goes away)... it is more a matter of logistics and how difficult it is for that time of year....
However, you are wonderful and I thank you just for the idea!!!

I think it's a mark of the intensity of the fetish that I'm willing to part with shoes to buy concert tix ... if my husband realized this I think he'd be flabbergasted!

But I will *never* part with my krypton green suede Puma kicks that go brilliantly with my green striped tube socks! Even if I'm the only one who knows that I'm wearing green striped tube socks under my jeans ...

I already unloaded a bunch of collectibles but need to do another ebay round next month. May try the clothes approach as well as I have a lot of stuff in good condition that I can't wear after I lost a lot of weight (and they already tell ya to get rid of your "fat clothes" anyway so they're not even in sight).

Perhaps I could sign up for a medical trial or two while I'm at it... :D As long as it's not mental health related--I think I'm clearly certifiable by now!

Plasma. There used to be a plasma bank in my college town, and I know more than a few guys who would sell plasma for beer.

I'm actually in the opposite boat on the clothes. I have my thin clothes from before I was pregnant to get rid of. I was keeping them as insentive to loose weight, but hey isn't the ability to pogo non-stop for the entire Atlanta show without having to have a cortisone injection in the middle of the show a better incentive? I say yes. To hell with my thin clothes. And you look great, btw, Sockii.

Yep, well, get paid for your plasma, actually. I may be revealing my age, though; the plasma market may have dried up (pun intended) in the post-AIDS world. But I think that if you have a negative HIV test you can be paid for your plasma.
