Stewart, A message for Andy about his Rockabilly riff

Postby george on 23 Jul 2007 11:58

I don't know how to get this to Andy apart from posting it to you, Stewart :

I personally think that the Blues/rockabilly reference that Andy has injected into Walking in Your Footsteps, is really interesting, intelligent and artistically well "thought out"...the problem is this : It comes over as Lazy and heard before..;and really completely UNPolice (compared to everything else that he has injected into the songs in 2007).

Why not try turning the riff upside down or something? Anyway, this is only my opinion. Keep up the good work, it's getting better and better!

It's so great that we have a place where we can finally tell the Police how to make their music.

I only wish we had something like this when they were making Reggatta De Blanc.

or when they were putting the finishing touches on what is arguably their most shoddy single, 'every breath you take'. if only they had an advice forum to go to back then, we might have seen some much needed kazoo in that heavily flawed little gem.

All I can say is I was singing the "rockabilly" riff at the concert last night.

I think it is a fantastic addition to the song, Footsteps sounds like a full out Police song now...and that riff totally makes it for me. I love that they have the talent to do this....keep improving and experimenting...like...umm...musicians!

Love it !

Cheers.

Oh, and Andy: you know that eighth-note triplet you did at the 73rd bar of "Bombs Away"? Yeah, the second note of the three is 4.2 milliseconds late. Please re-do this track and remaster the album. Thanks.

Oh, and grab me a cold beer. The last one you brought is getting tepid.

Note to Leonardo da Vinci--Hey, Lenny, that "Mona Lisa".......Maybe you could re-paint her so she shows some teeth? (Sorry, George, but there are probably only 2 people who could actually "suggest" something to Mr. Summers---and their names both begin with "S".....) Much respect......
