Are those golfing gloves? And other thoughts from NOLA

Postby clairebuoyant on 02 Jul 2007 02:21

My husband swore that Stewart Copeland was wearing golfing gloves while playing last night in NOLA. Yes! he said, he could even see the tee markers still on Stewart's wrists via the big screens! What do I say to him?
I am a newbie to this forum. Hello all. My brother saw the Police around 1978 at a little punk bar in Detroit called Bookies 870 and has bought anything Mr Copeland did ever since; I was a little sister influenced and lucky enough to see the Police during the Ghost in the Machine tour in 1982 at Cobo Arena. Detroit Rocks.
And so did New Orleans 25 years later. What an incredible show. Sting let the crowd take over singing intermittent verses, unprompted ... Andy Summers tore up solos and hopped up for three or four "air splits" ... Stewart Copeland took off like a rocket off a launch pad at one point, I believe, during Every Little Thing and turned the whole section I was sitting in upside down with exclamations like, "did you just SEE THAT!!!" Thank you Mr Copeland and the Police for coming to New Orleans. It was a grand feeling walking the streets with the fans and knowing that because of you, there was a night of excitement and a dose of much needed revenue into the local economy.

Glad you guys had a great show in NOLA. I saw The Lads on the Ghost tour as well. The Go Go's opened.

Yes, Stewart wears golf gloves. Tell your husband he's right (hope that doesn't hurt too much! )

I think they are. From what I could tell they were. Don't know why he'd take them off. It's not like they'd fly off. They're snapped on.

No, Jeff. Nobody listens. But everyone stares. Hahaha.
A little Police humor.

I wear Nike gloves, too. Ooooooh, Stewart and I wear the same gloves. And it's totally a coincidence. One might say a case of synchronicity.

I'm not much of a golfer but I did find out that if you hit a ball that is in danger of hitting somebody on another fairway (golfing like I do) or anywhere else on the course that you should yell out "fore!" and then be ready to come up with a good exuse as to why you just hit someone with your ball...........fuck golf is complicated. :D
