THE POLICE / Vancouver / May 30 Show -- How was it?!?

Postby DirtyMartini on 31 May 2007 04:02

I've had to go almost 48 whole hours without a Police fix! I seriously think I'm going through withdrawal.

Check in, Vancouver! How was the show?!?
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

now this was the show I liked best!

there were mistakes, lots of them - mostly Andy

but Andy had such fun, even jumped a few times

the songs seemed faster to me, the fast middle part of Footsteps was nice

improvisations were more extreme this night

got to see the three of them leaving after the show

sting and trudie went first, the car stopped, so that sting could sign a few items

then came stewart, he made the driver stop for a few handshakes

andy waved when entering the car and pointed to us while driving by.

great end for a great concert and an unforgettable week!

The wheels didn't come off but it was a bit touch and go at times. I have to agree with Dietmar on this one and say yes it was a great end for a great concert and an unforgettable week!
I enjoyed the FC show the best. This one was a bit harder to swallow likely due to the fact that we were seated one row down from the absolute top nose bleeders and it was unbelievably hot up near those rafters but a great view of the stage none the less.
I won't dwell on the obvious as Stewart has already encapsulated all that in his post.

What the hell does that mean?

(Has mental image of DM tying a rubber tube around her arm...;))

I don't think I've gotten squat done this week. I just keep hanging out here and at TP.com and Backstage, compulsively hitting 'refresh'...

We all know Stewart is going to be ridiculously critical of himself, but if Dietmar is giving the show high marks, i'm guessing it means the group are getting more on their game with each show. They should be good and warmed up in the next couple of weeks! :D

I was there too

Postby Mercury Rising on 31 May 2007 18:15

I've written a few notes on Stewart's post about the show so please check in there - some great magic moments on this night, unforgettable! Actually it was my favourite of all 3 gigs.... it was a strange, chaotic, and beautiful night.... surreal.
Notable audience members tonight included: Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, John Mayer. Best songs for me were Every Little Thing, Murder by Numbers and Roxanne (which is a song I don't usually like).

Martini, Samburu, Gina, Conroy.... wish you could have been there with me.... sending warm Vancovuer sunshine your way!!

Dietmar, I was really hoping that Wed. would be your favorite show, so glad to hear it worked out that way!

MercuryRising: thanks to you, I know how wonderful the Vancouver sunshine you're sending can be, miss you all already <grin>

Glad the show was so very exciting, you never know what number three will bring <grin>

You'd think after just two shows that I might have had my fix for a while, just the opposite I would have done anything to stay and I cannot wait for the next show...ready to pack up again and go...if money were no object I'd be at just about every show <grin>

DIETMAR! (or anyone at the 5/30 show), can you confirm or deny something?

Someone on TP said that "Tea in the Sahara" was played last night?

Urm :?: :?: :?:

Ya, no one seems really entirely sure of the set list there (GDI I wish I was there, for many reasons, but one being I am compulsive set-lister <grin>) but the word is that after Voices/World Tea was played and the later appearing Truth was dropped out...

Tea In The Sahara wasn't played. Or I passed out for exactly one song, which I wasn't...

Truth Hits wasn't played on Wednesday. I missed that bit when I earlier commented about it having been the same setlist / couldn't read my own handwriting... But I've checked and so it really wasn't played....
