ticketmaster presale listing

ticketmaster presale listing

Postby www.honkeeclothing.com on 12 Feb 2007 22:57

on the ticketmaster site, it lists on the right, presale for some of the shows is wed.feb. 14 but then it says on the left(or middle) if you join the policetour website at the time of purchase ,of tix, for $100 then the presale is tues. feb13th. its basically saying if you join early u get a later presale , but if you join later then earlier presale
anybody have an answer for this?

It also looks like the Bestbuy presale is one day earlier than the fanclub presale. What's up with that ?

They said at today's press conference that the best tickets for shows would be gotten through Best Buy... but is that fair that if you weren't signed up with them before today you are left out? I know they have to protect themselves from scalpers, but if you are the biggest police fan in the world that didn't happen to be signed up with Best Buy previously, you are shit outta luck... :?

Is this a major scam or what?

Best Buy puts up a page to get you to sign up for a chance at pre-sale tickets..and then puts in the fine print that you already had to be signed up by 8am this morning to qualify!

That is pretty bad, and does nothing but leave a bad taste in the mouth of their potential customers.

If they just announced that this was available to existing rewards members, then that would be OK, but to say "go to BestBuy for a chance at the best seats" is being deceitful.

I agree 100%... so if they add shows for say Halifax later in the tour we would be eligible, but as for the first shows we aren't... doesn't make sense to me!!

Why did I spend $100.00 to get the second best seats? Should be fan club first.

Well I'm a reward zone member. So I'm happy, but still... it's like what the hell? I did pay 100 dollars for the fan club too.

Hrmph.

I have no inside info on this, but I can't imagine they are seriously going to give people better seats from the Best Buy club than from thepolicetour.com.

For the record, I'm a Best Buy member, too...and have not gotten emails or any other contact from them on this yet.

Ehh I always hated Best Buy. They were really snaughty to me when I was a kid, egnored me each time I asked for help finding something. But now that I have my own money to spend... they bumbard me right when I walk into the door (it's the closest electronic's store).

Shit, so I already have to sign up for the fan club? Damn I needed a few days to suck up to my parents for permission....

They're doing this for one reason: Best Buy paid a lot of money for this.

I finally found the member number, but I called the cust. service and they said the lines have been full and backed up for hours over this. Everyone is jumping on and it looks like the tickets for the Fan Club will be really second to this.

I think I'm going to buy my tickets for New Orleans through the Fan Club, since you can only buy 2 tickets through the Best Buy thing.

My brother, my father, and my girlfriend are joining me to New Orleans... or Miami if they announce it soon.

My girlfriend and I will enjoy Wrigley Park perhaps.

Well, that's the deal, then. Hopefully there won't be limits on whatever tix are available through policetour.com, although I'm not sure I think this was a great way to handle things (allowing casual, $5-membership Best Buy program fans to buy tix ahead of people who are presumably even willing to pay $100 to policetour.com for the privilege.)

What's in it for Best Buy, exactly? Other than this being an example of so-called 'special privileges' you get as a member of their brand loyalty program...but for all the people they make happy by getting presale tix, they may have just made a not-insignificant number of Police fans buy their CDs and miscellany someplace else.

I'm saying this as a BB member, and a newly-minted Policetour.com member as well...heck, I'd volunteer to buy tix for somebody using my BB card (since I just got to see the guys, and I'll be at Bonnaroo) but I left all my store-loyalty cards back in Nashville, so I have no clue what my BB member number is. And I'm not home till Wednesday. Sigh.

BTW Dive..Congrats on the Whisky!

I joined the police tour site and it says only 4 maximum tickets allowed to be purchased. My question is that I want to go to more than one show. Bonnaroo, St. Louis, then Atlanta (hopefully) later. Hopefully I can use my fan club password for all three!

Maybe you can keep us all informed on the bonnaroo tickets? Pretty please?

;) There's not much to inform. I'm not sure when tix will go on sale yet...keep checking bonnaroo.com for info.

You know, I don't blame them for putting a limit on presale tickets...seriously. Not everyone has a spare $100 to throw down for a policetour.com membership...seems only fair that those folks get a fair shot at good seats on the tour, alongside those of us who paid for the privilege of being first at bat. Come to think of it, there's a little of that in the Best Buy presale, too...just wish they hadn't made it open only to pre-existing BB store loyalty members.

But, you know, there's really no perfect solution to this. Think about how many hundreds of thousands of fans this band has. When you consider the dollar amounts some people would pay for good seats on this tour, $100 seems a measly sum in comparison (and that's money going straight to the band and its assorted employees, not to scalpers). You can see why Best Buy would have wanted to do things this way, and in their defense they did put a 2-ticket limit on this.

At least they're trying to have a presale, and they did open the new website (presumably to put Andy/Stewart fans on a level ground with the Sting.com folks, who've had to pay to subscribe for years now.)
