Do You "Wanna Know" new Police Songs and Box set?!...?!

here:
http://www.thepolicearchive.com/

The "Master Tapes" section lists, amongst other evidently unreleased / yet to be released alternate versions and gems, the following tracklisting for Outlandos:

"THE POLICE OUTLANDOS D' AMOUR
Can't Stand Losing You (Alternate Version) / So Lonely / A Sermon / Be My Girl-Sally / Landlord / Roxanne (Alternate Version)
Dead End Job / Peanuts / Wanna Know / Born In The 50's (Alternate Version) / So Lonely (Alternate Version)
Sally / Be My Girl-Sally (Alternate Version)
UK 10" Surrey Sound Studios ¼" 2-trk Safety Master Tape"

............WANNA KNOW?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I, for one, certainly do.

Stewart?! Remember this tune? Come on, we wanna know.

the song was also performed live in early 1978

but Stewart doesn't remember any of this

cool, thanks, D.... only performed once, as far as you know?

A Sting composition?

I guess it's likely given Gordo's frequent re-working / using of his lyrics that some or all of the words would have appeared on another song at another time? any other tunes with 'wanna know' in the lyrics..... I would have said that it could have been an early draft of Peanuts, except that's listed too.

of course it was included in "Message In A Box".... that included everything recorded by the band.
and it'll appear, along with all the alternate versions of songs, on Message In A Box II?

Ho Ho Ho Ho... i've turned into Santa Claus.

Don't forget the unreleased and possibly unrecorded "I Don't Wanna Take A Gun To You" which of course became "All I Want Is To Be Next To You"

Sting talked about it in the SPIN 1991(?) cover edition

the aforementioned "Don't Wanna Take A Gun To You" doesn't exist...lyrics were initially gordo's 'next to you', then andy offered (the stewart-liked)alternative 'take a gun' lyrics but the song was not recorded with andy's lyrics...

but the stuff that man DOES have and is trying to get released through Universal is unreal. and SO tantilising... he's also writing a book and has a great website (which many will be aware of but just in case: feast yer eyes on this little lot: http://www.thepolicearchive.com/
(i'm not blowing the lid 'cos craig did ask seb to post on LiSting)

2CD's of new old stuff and another CD of tracks released after MIABox in 93.

in a synchronous manner a friend of a friend (no, honestly) claims also to have master tape/s of early police stuff, it's a guy craig knows too... i'm seeking opportunity to meet and lisen to this stuff...

and check out the Voices remix playing on thepolicearchive site...... mmmmmmmmmmmmm. there's tasty.

dited for clarity.......

Oh well, I read it 20 years ago...I just remembered the title.
Craig's site is dizzying..I would love to hear more than what has been leaked.

How do you know he is trying to get them released?
I couldn't fnd that on the website.

Is that just common knowledge around here?

yeah..i can spend hours looking at that site..... sorry was i blunt when saying about the gun song? dint mean to be..

when i started this thread after stumbling onto the police archive site i knew nothing about the new songs which had been 'discovered' on the existing master tapes (which Nigel Grey had had in his possession). then the penny dropped about who was responsible and we spoke a little.... craig asked if i could edit what i had written above so that the project still has integrity by ensuring that the information is right so that no stupid / hopeful / bullshit rumours start .... it's in the hands of universal with whom there are conversations to get this stuff released : including >ahem< ta -daaa: stewart's derrangements!!!!!!!!!!! ...

i wish the project much grease for its' wheels 'cos it'd be great to have some 'new' stuff from the band available.. especially someone who gives a shit so that the project is lovingly prepared and not just a rush-job-cash-in, not that i'm saying that was the case in anyway with the Greatest Hits comp which accompanied the Reunion Tour, oh no, i wouldn't say that....nor with the previous 200 greatest hits compilations.......

it kills me that the back catalogue of other artists are regularly updated and released... Paul Weller can't take a fucking dump without a Deluxe Box Set Anniversary Edition with extras and DVD's of every album he's ever done being released...

2 more versions of Visions of the Night!!!!!!!!!!!!! and derrangements!!!!!!!!! >pinkies crossed<

hoped for release is:
2 CDs containing the missing 8 tracks from the box set and all the tracks released after the 1993 box set (1995 - 2001)
1 CD (3rd disc) will contain the unreleased tracks.....may end up being 2 CDs of unreleased tracks as Stewarts dearrangements and what other unreleased tracks crop up from the other 6 reels remaining.....so in total it will probably be a 4CD set.

Sounds interesting, but I hate getting my hopes up for stuff like this.

I'm recalling the promised "Police Around The World" DVD at the beginning of tourzilla. A big goose egg on that one....

word.
i think the difference with this is that there is an actual person who is 'in talks' with universal to get this released..... whereas the other 'hoped for' projects (like "around the world" on DVD etc) were just that, 'hoped' for.

Very exciting stuff.
I really can't see it happening easily...
There is no way Univ/BMG/A&M or any other big house is going to release 4 CDs of Police extras.
What? No Hits? EXTRAS?

The previous Police releases like Live! sold poorly, Strontium 90 sold very few and CD sales in general are plummeting with online downloading running the music industry to its knees.

We gotta hope for an archival company like Rhino to do something like this, but how in the world would any other company get the rights to Sting's music?

This is a long long long shot, but I truly hope for the Police fan base that such amazing treasures someday see the light of day.
