The Cover of Stewart's book revealed?

Postby luddite lady on 30 Apr 2009 03:32

With all this excitement over the photos for Strange Things Happen, I checked out the Harper Studio site for the book. I was surprised to find a picture of what looks like the cover. What do you all think of it?

Great minds think alike, LL! I was checking it out this evening to find out how long till the book comes out.

So, what do you think of it? I'm underwhelmed if that's the final cover.

yeah it's got a nice sans serif font and a clean design but it's pretty boring really! i'd have gone for an inoffensive shot of stewart's armpit with sting's face coming out of it.

I'm kind of underwhelmed too. I'm hoping that's just some sort of "working" cover until they get the permission to slap your photo on there, bella. (Heck, I WOULD DIE just by association if that happened.)

And I'm not feeling the blue print at all. Green could work though. And we lost the colon for some sort of bullet thing! What sort of punctuation travesty is that?

ETA: Cross-posting with tj7...font...I didn't even think of the font. We better prepare for a full out war once all the font geeks get a gander at that cover.

I'd be willing to bet this isn't the final cover. . . (at least I hope it isn't). . .

there's no way that's the cover.. i rekon it'll have an action shot of stewart in his 80/81 yellow shirt.. and a group shot from tourzilla with some pygmies around the edge.......

Smax, you just gave me an idea. I'm not one to like busy covers...but. It should have the triangle like the back of the Zenyatta album with a representative picture/abstract illustration of each subtitle: Police, Polo and Pygmies on each side of the triangle and his logo in the middle of the triangle (or just the title in the middle).

Okay, when are they announcing the book cover contest, cause my mind is spinning with ideas now. lol.

ETA: Oh, and speaking of covers past. I think Andy's "One Train Later" cover is awesome.

I like the cover. It disguises the treasure within. Sure beats a kid in a re-colored yellow and black sweater.

Is it October 6th yet?

I hope the cover includes a picture of him now -- who he has become as a result of his experiences. This book, I sense, is about how interesting and amazing his past life looks from his current perspective. I would love to see a picture that is reflective of that wit and wisdom, rather than recycle a photo from the old Police days.

Ultimately, Stewart's artistic instincts have been proven repeatedly, so if the image on the Harper website IS the cover, we should trust his instincts again.

Saying that it "sucks" seems rude -- why not come up with something constructive or suggest an alternate idea?

Upon reflection, I realize it was rude of me to say anyone was rude. My apologies.

Mrs. G, Your idea about the photo sounds like a great one. Cheers!
