URGENT HELP FOR STEWART - WHO TOOK THESE PICS?

Postby giovanni on 29 Apr 2009 09:43

Ciao everybody from Giovanni.

First of all, we only have a bunch of days to get these information:

WHO TOOK THE 5 POLICE PICS INCLUDED IN THE FOLLOWING PAGE?

www.illegaltales.com/giopics.htm

I have set up this page on my illegaltales website to let you all see them and have a faster reply; Stewart took them from our web (but I guess some comes from avatars as I don't see them upoloaded in our gallery, or maybe through links); the thing is he would like them to be included in his forthcoming book; hey, what a prestigious honour to be in Stewart's book, eh???
Please, let's all show once again that we can be as fast as in the past with similar occasions.

Send your replies to my mail giovanni.pollastri@libero.it I will then pass your contact details to the publisher so that you can give the authorisation (if you like...ehehe).

Thanks from Stewart, the publisher and me.

(of course my own pic at the end of the page is not part of this request...that's only the page where I upload my pics for the avatar)

Shoot, the people who could probably pick those out best are all in NYC today! I'll make sure to let Dietmar and Kellie know.

In the meantime, the links here might help track them down (the photogallery links on the wiki pages, that is):

http://www.policefans.org/Police_wiki/i ... 2007-10-31
http://www.policefans.org/Police_wiki/i ... 2008-08-07

They might be (the flag ones) in Kellie's Flag Gallery too:

Wish I could help now more myself but I've got a train to catch!

wasn't me ( :( ) but it's good to see that there's a sea of green flags in one of the MSG shots.

Wasn't me, but I have some very similar shots from MSG if you need a substitute.

The first photo, from Halloween, is so close it makes me think it could be from a pro photographer (e.g., Associated Press). Wireimage.com had pro photos from that show. I'd search right now but I've got to get to work!

the first one is from some professional photographer / maybe taken from rex, corbis or some other page like that

the wembley arena photo might be one of mine, I just can't check that from here, but it was definitely my point of view that night

the uruguay here photo might have been taken from flickr.com / at least I've only seen those kinds of photo there

First, heh.

Second,

Pic 2 = Bella ( http://copelandia.smugmug.com/gallery/5 ... 2662_BPuqt )

Pic 5 = SambucaSubaru as smudge said ( http://copelandia.smugmug.com/gallery/5 ... 7506_VWvAb )

I'll email you in a sec, Giovanni.

Pic 4 -- if it's not Dietmar's -- I want to say it comes from someone here or at TP.com cuz it looks really familiar to me, as if I just saw it recently while searching. (Maybe Beata?)

I have to bolt, but if someone can, check the review threads over at TP -- they're organized by show, so people's posted photos are easy to find: http://www.thepolice.com/members/commun ... board=15.0

Yup, #5 is mine -- and if Stewart wants to use it, that's fine with me!

If you really want to use this photo and are willing to pay, you could try asking AP to license it. I did this once for a photo from an event that I wanted to use in my company's annual report--the fee was quite reasonable. But our usage was for a document that was distributed free of charge mostly to company employees.

Gio, I'll send you the contact info.

Hah. I love it when Stewart and Gio turn on the Batman spotlight...thus mobilizing the Krypton army ;)

Will go make a quick run thru the Flickr threads to see if I can find Turin & Wembley, since I don't have to leave for the left-coast Dietmar handoff till tomorrow....

ETA: Here's one of Dietmar's Wembley shots, (since I know he can't post right now)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/18838092@N00/1670066368/

Just on first blush, nobody else's look similar. Lara May has some great ones, but she was up front. other TPT folks with batches from Wembley: svt13157; mariajosep; daft; one more person who's up in front. Regrettably, Beata's post on TPT indicates that she wasn't able to get her camera into the gig at Wembley, tho she does have some nice shots at Harrods, etc. So probably for sure this is Dietmar's.

My guess is Turin is a proshot, based on the angle and on the field of vision. It'd be terribly hard to shoot this using a handheld and get this quality of light, detail, etc.

oh, I can post.
the few shots on flickr.com are zoomed in / a lot.
the wembley photo in giovanni's link is the real view I had without zooming in (although the camera always makes it seem further away)
however I can't remember having sent this photo around or uploaded it somewhere on the internet / because I don't think it's any good
so it might not be mine after all
but maybe there were people in the front rows one could recognize, and that's the reason why I uploaded that picture
sabine is trying to find my original pictures at home

I really need to get the hell out of here, but I KNOW that I know that Wembley photo; I just can't remember where I saw it.

D, do you remember anyone else seated around you?

Daft, Hannah, and Lara were all on the floor. Anyone remember where Sandy from Chicago was seated? Were MJ and Beata there, or was that just Cardiff? (As I throw questions out there, I'll also go send them emails.)
