OT - Tickets sold at 600 seats per second

OT - Tickets sold at 600 seats per second

Postby TheEqualizer on 20 Apr 2009 16:44

Just posting this because this stat just made my jaw drop.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Paul McCartney's concert this weekend (April 17) at the new venue at the Hard Rock sold out its tickets at the fastest rate in history. Reportedly, the tickets were sold at a rate of 600 tickets per second. The venue has only 4,000 seats, which means the show sold out in a mere six and two thirds seconds! I was not able to get a ticket (which were around $750).

Wow.

Reportedly, the concert was pretty good (full review will appear in the Vegas newspaper on Tuesday). The show was held on the anniversary of Linda's death. I'm not certain Abe Laboriel, Jr. was on drums given that he's been touring with Clapton. But if not Abe, who was it?

Wow, and we're in a recession. Who can afford the seats?

To sell out in 6 and two thirds seconds, wow, that's really something...and at $750 per ticket, another, wow.

FREAKIN' GO.

For real. Supercats & my friend D. and I saw them last night at the Tom Wolfe Civic Center in Asheville, NC.

For those of you not so well informed, GSC is the koolest kat ever to krawl planet Krypton. Girl requested my favorite Wilco song on Wilcoworld, that I've never heard live, despite having hollered my head off for it for quite a few years now. That song would be "Box Full of Letters," from A.M., and yep, it was pretty well worth the nine-year wait.

!!!!!!!! As was the brand new smokin-hot five minute version of 'Hoodoo Voodoo', plus two other songs off the Mermaid albums; the new arrangement of 'Shot in the Arm,' which now features a blazing guitar solo by Nels instead of the Mellotron...only disappointment was I couldn't see Glenn due to a badly placed cymbal stand.

Seriously, it was not only one of the best Wilco shows I've ever seen, it was one of the best shows I've seen.

You know, this band kinda crept up on me. I just kept going to see them, and at one of the shows it just hit me, that they've gone from 'good' to 'great' somewhere in there, in the grand sense.

Hell, if I didn't already have more tickets to see them (at Bonnaroo), I'd....buy more tickets to see them. :)

Enjoy. I've got the boot from the Knoxville show last weekend and it's also just stellar.

Only downside? I kinda can't talk today....

Heh, yep we surmised that the boot would be posted before we even got back because you simply rrraaaawwwwkk, EQ! <grin>

So glad they finally played Box of Letters! <blushes> While I did make as eloquent of a plea in the alotted 100 words or less on wilcoworld, but it indeed was the fourth or fifth most requested song for the show so it may've helped but credit goes elsewhere as well <smile> The joy seeing you completely freak is worth it, though, m'dear!

Ya, I'd put the Lips and Wilco as both must-see shows, even if just once!
