No, my dear, it's not close to my hometown - Romans could have felt it, thank goodness not the South. We had our abundant share, as I related some days ago.
I'm very sad and pray for my compatriots, above all because some scientist had predicted this in time and had been labeled as "incompetent".
Next time the "government" better make sure.

There is undoubtedly some activity on the horizontal dorsal (West Coast to Japan).

Gio, everyone at SC.net and your friends and families, I hope you are OK. My thoughts were with you as soon as I heard. I have no clue about Italian geography so I can't tell if this was near you.
yo!!

Kim,

Milan is very far from there. I'm sure that Gio is OK. We should think about our fellow Nutters in Rome, though. :?

According to the news here, it was felt in Rome, but no damage. Hope everyone's families and friends are ok.

To tell the truth I was more worried for my mother who went to the hospital unexpectedly today for a problem at the stomach; I came back a couple of hours ago and it seems she's ok, I would say everything's under control. She'll stay in the hospital for some days.

Thanks for your messages about the earthquake; I got some friends out there and they had some really bad moments..but they're ok...not their houses...
I'm about 5/6 hours drive from them.

Thanks.

 Glad to hear you're ok. Am a little worried about my best friend & her hubby. He is teaching this spring at his University's abroad program, but it is in Castiglion Fiorentino, a bit north of Perugia, which I think is out of the danger zone. Haven't gotten an email response yet, and no phone # to contact, so a awaiting.......
Your country is in my prayers, just the terror folks must have felt! And then trying to get people rescued.......

I have perhaps some lost relatives out there....I actually have patients from L'aquila...supposedly it is very, very old so those buildings are not reinforced concrete.

I also heard back from Eugenio and Paola (Paola lives closer to the earthquake area). Both are okay.

Giovanni, best wishes to your mom.
