Twickenham sept. 9th (bis)

Twickenham sept. 9th (bis)

Hi there !

A little bit late to post about the 2nd Twickers gig, but right after being back home on monday night, I was too tired to post here before going to sleep.
And due to my work, I was not at home these last two days.

So we arrived, my wife Joëlle and I quite late in London Waterloo (4:30 PM). We took a train there to St Margarets, where we booked a room in a lovely B&B, the Avalon Cottage.

It was around 6:00 PM when we finally arrived at Twickenham stadium, block 19 in the low tier.
Disapointment: the stage was so far from there, and the canvas cover over the cameras on the right pylon was hiding the part of the stage where Sting was...
Luckily I had my pair of binoculars ! it was necessary despite the giant screens...
We were very impressed because it was our first ever big concert in such a huge place ! and what a gig ! The Police for the first time in our lives.
I've been waiting for this moment for such a long long time ! (I was only 13 when The Police came for the last time in France for the Synchronicity tour...).

When we arrived, Fiction Plane was already on stage performing a good set (we saw them last year in Luxembourg, opening for Sting and his Broken Music tour), but the sound was not really good, same for the second band to follow (I just forget their names...): too much basses !

Just a quick stop at the bar for a bitter pint, go back to my seat, and at 8:15 PM exactly, Bob Marley's "Get Up Stand Up" was played, announcing the imminence of the show !
Lights out, a big roar, THE Gong and the part of the stage where Stewart's percussions set, with the man on it, rose from the ground !

The concert was terrific, powerful, with a very good sound. The 3 men were in a really good shape. And the audience too ! People were dancing on Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, singing loudly on Walking On The Moon, De Do Da, Reggatta De Blanc !
As a collector, I have about thirty of the Reunion Tour gigs, but seeing and listening to The Police for real is beyond compare !

The show lasted 1 hour 50, and after it finished it took us a while to reach the Cabbage Patch where we met some of the forumers: Hannah, dafttart, smudge and Franco. It was great to see them ! We kiss you all !!
But, disapointment, Dietmar left London right after the show to catch a plane at Luton airport, so I missed him... (Dietmar, I had stuffs for you !)

I won't miss him in Paris because he'll have to give me THE Flag. I can't wait !!! Paris show the 29th will be fantastic and the stadium will be chock-a-block: 80.000 people, and me in the middle with the flag, the day of my anniversary ! it couldn't be better !!!

See you there !

Thank you all !!
Oh I forget, this is a bad video shot with my camera, but you can see and hear the good "ambiance" of the show during Reggatta De Blanc. You can even hear me sing...
The girl sitting next to me is Joëlle my wife, and, another thing, she's 3 months and a half pregnant. She or he will be a Police fan for sure ! :D

Olivier, I forgot to say say huge congratulations on your impending arrival :D

I was still going to gigs when I was about 7-months pregnant and the baby was bouncing away, which was great fun

Take care of yourself and your lovely wife.

Thanks a lot for your kindness Helen !
Joëlle is not sure of attending the show in Paris. She'll be 4 months pregnent and as there are no seats in the Pelouse Or section, she's afraid of being tired or even getting ill or being bumped.
As I'll got the flag, I would like both of us to be as close to the stage as possible. Isn' it too risky ?

Olivier!

So lovely to meet you both, if only for a short while. I hope you and Joelle managed to get some sleep after such a long day. Have a wonderful, wonderful time on the 29th - hope you both manage to be there. Fingers crossed!

Congratulations Olivier.
I wouldn't risk it. I have bad experiences with pushing frenchmen...
