The Police in Rio December 8, 2007?

There are some rumours in Brazilian blogs and gossip columns about The POlice playing in Rio de Janeiro on December 8, 2007. They report that The Police will be paid U$ 3 million for this show. I have no idea if that figure makes sense, but the sources, alledgedly are "O Globo" Rio's major newspaper and "O Dia" another paper from Rio.

Since there is no mention of it on TPT site, it is still, a little suspicious to me. Don't wanna get all happy and be disapointed in the end.

Anyone heard anythong about it? Is there light at the end of the tunnel.

Jose, I am crossing my fingers for a concert in Lima also. You actually mentioned something about a Brazilian date. Do you know something about those rumours?

I am totally shocked like you... I just noticed a POLICE CONCERT SCHEDULE that included LIMA at December 7th in Monumental stadium:

About the rumours I heard, was today at gym, someone who has friend that I know and whose relative is the same who's will bring to Lima argentinian trio "Soda Stereo" for december 8th, told me he was noticed that Police concert in Chile was cancelled and a Brazilian date was included... that sound crazy and is the only info I managed...as you see are gossips or only unofficial ones...

Do not trust anything posted on Wikipedia until the new "colors" system is implemented.

I could, for instance, post now on Wikipedia that the Police will play the Bridge Concert here in the Bay Area, and lots of people would believe it.

THE POLICE ARE NOT PLAYING THE BRIDGE CONCERT. Lineup is already confirmed by Neil Young and it includes Metallica, Jerry Lee Lewis, John Mayer, Tegan & Sara, Tom Waits, Regina Spector and (FOR THE 8TH TIME) Eddie Vedder with Flea and original RCHP drummer Jack Irons.

Not that this is important: I have been in San Fran 9 years and could never get tickets for the Bridge, even when knowing the exact moment when they were put on sale and having a friend on the phone and the 2 of us on the net. Besides, it always pours during the Bridge concert..hehehe....

It seems that it is really going to happen. The Secretary of Sports of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, who actually manages the Maracana Stadium said this week that The Police will play there on December.

He later said, that this was supposed to be a secret, since the deal is not closed yet. But he says there is a 90% chance that the show is really going to happen. I certainly hope so!!!!!! Thanks for your messages! Your positive thinking is working and I am sure it will happen for you too Jose!!
