The rumor is Bed's Too Big is removed to make room for Hole in My Life.

Does this mean there were some Cha!s?

AZ, all we know so far is what steerpike mentioned: http://www.stewartcopeland.net/forum/vi ... php?t=4112

No word on TPT.

(Edit: Cuz I'm a dope, it seems.)

I hate to drag down steerpike's show report thread with setlist opinions, so this one seems like a good place instead --

EQ had mentioned the thought that adding "Hole" would bring up the tempo of the setlist -- with which I absolutely agree, and I love it as an addition. But I admit that I'm disappointed that it's a replacement rather than an addition to the setlist.

And if "Hole" is going to replace anything, I can think of other songs that I would rather see lost than "Bed's." (I personally think "Invisible Sun" or the slower version of "Don't Stand" would be better candidates for replacement -- though because they were Top 40 hits, I can see why that would be difficult.) Though since "Bed's" has the potential for greatness on some nights but just doesn't quite gel on others, I guess I can see why it was at risk.

I guess I'm typing myself into understanding why "Bed's" got traded -- but I admit that I'm sad to hear it.

Sad to see it go. I thought there was room since Spirits and Murder were already removed. But someone said on TPT that Roxanne clocked in a 14 minutes.

Yeah, my thought, too, would've been "Invisible Sun" if forced to pick a song to leave the set list. The song itself has always been a favorite of mine, but it just didn't work quite right in the shows I saw...kind of dragged down the energy level. (As an aside, I thought it really DID work at Giants Stadium.)

The Bed's Too Big definitely had some rough patches early on in the tour, but I thought it was a real standout at several shows later on. So...I'm sad to see it go...but really, really thrilled to see Hole in My Life added. Can't wait to hear what they did with this!!

i would rather see don't stand or invisible sun gone instead of beds too.

totally agree. i'm not crazy about either one of those, but hey, if it gets "hole" in, then so be it!

Was just listening to a boot of "Bed's" -- and I just gotta say this, and then I'll let it go: in addition to just being a gorgeous song, the brilliance of "Bed's" as part of the setlist is that its odd rhythm and unique sound marks the fact that The Police are more than "just" a rock band and more than "just" a Top 40 band. I can see why "Bed's" might not translate well to a stadium: as Moeskido said to me, it requires a certain finesse more appropriate to a smaller venue. But it also points to the fact The Police are not just "a band" but genuine musicians. I think I understand the decision, but it will be sorely missed.

None of this is to say that I'm not over-the-fucking-moon that The Boys are back to work, of course. And yay to "Hole in My Life." So I promise to let it go.

As always, thank you, Stewart. Welcome back, and BTW, cute haircut.

Beds Too Big Without You has always been a favorite of mine, but either way, with or without it, they'd be awesome.
