Flag Idea -- Can I get your thoughts?

Postby copeland_girl5 on 08 Aug 2007 14:45

Good idea DM, and I like the charity. I believe the Live4life.org is an appropriate choice in memorial of Ian, and I like to think Stewart would support the choice if the idea comes to fruition. And on a personal note, being a melanoma survivor myself [diagnosed last year at age 43 (too much baby oil tanning as a teen) and happy to say cancer-free], it is so important to support research, awareness, etc. Also, if you need any help with this project, let me know and I’ll gladly lend a hand.

Someone had made a suggestion, it was either Kalypso or Sockii, that I think I will follow. Assuming we get something going with L4L, that in addition to the flag related donations, that for those who have gotten a Leroy Coolbreeze shirt from Nike, a donation should be made in the amount of $53, the cost of the shirt. This is fitting as the shirt is a tribute to Ian and thus would be of double benefit. The charity would get a donation and Ian awareness (including the condition that took him from us) would be increased.

So when anyone hears from the L4L people, let me know.

That sounds lovely, EQ, and thanks to whomever made the suggestion. But please allow me to reiterate the very VOLUNTEER nature of this little fundraiser of ours.

I know that I've stated and restated it numerous times; I just want to make sure that no one feels obliged or pressured to contribute, whether through the Flag or through the LC t-shirts or whatever.

Act within your comfort level, folks, whatever that may be. And thank you to all.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

merchandise idea

Postby samburusunset on 22 Aug 2007 17:29

Had a idea inspired by my Krypton Store post.
Perhaps we could sell bucket hats with a fund logo on it ( completely independent from and having absolutely nothing to do with SC.net, of course). It would help spread the word AND be protection from the sun.

Just a thought. Feel free to poo-poo it or shoot it down.

I will gladly support anything behind cancer research. I have lost too many teachers, co-workers and friends to this horrible disease.

I have close family members in the battle, and at the moment winning, fingers crossed. I lost a cousin to melanoma at 33.
Will do whatever you want to contribute.

Hey, folks. Nancy has been working on this for a few weeks, but there's a bit of an administrative snag that needs to be worked out before we can provide any info. Once we have something concrete to tell you guys, we will. I just need you guys to be patient. In the meantime, thanks for the enthusiasm and support.
