reporting back from the Hartford CT show (funny and long)

 Hello Guys!,
This is Vanessa Courtney reporting back from the Hartford CT show last night with sore feet and a happy heart. Hmm.. okay where do I begin this adventure. lets see
From The Beginning:
The night before the concert we watched our Police videos, an eBay purchase!
Watched both of the Around the world, and Synchronicity tours.
To get ourselves ready for the big event!
As the day approached countdown to concert,

Some of this content may not suitable for male viewing this is rated YW, for young women.
Ashley "my twin sister" made me go to the gym to work off water weight for God knows why,
or in just in case we met someone we liked, "wink wink".we
Should have been at CVS purchasing Advil and Dr. Scholls, for her pink high pumps.
We been on a Police High since the week before when we convinced the parents to
go to Boston to go to Andy's photo exhibit, first day, first persons to almost die in a
fatal small elevator experience, and when I say small I mean bathroom size, toilet and sink size.
The pictures were great and had hoped we met Andy in the process, but wasn't at all
a loss Ashley almost came home with a 5000 picture or the book that cost 400.00
She just started a new job and hasn't even received her first paycheck.
On he other hand, she did gained a friend in the art gallery, who thought it was a Little strange
that two freshly new nineteen year olds, liked the "Police" and knew everything about
Andy's photography, and Stu's affinity for tube socks and short shorts, etc.
She hasn't been able to shake her off since, sales girl is hoping to make a big commission!
She had no idea that we just wanted to meet the band.
Negotiations, are still still in progress, for sale of his photos.
Oh Oh, brain freeze, this is not about us, this is about the Hartford Show.
Now, lets get back to the good stuff.
So, Ashley (twin ) was on her usual tirade of "Am I too fat, should I wear this outfit",
We will see Joe Summer? Do you think he had a girlfriend?, do you think he wants one?
Oh well, the voice of reason, myself, thought I should kill her and take her ticket
to give to someone who does not whine so much.
After changing her shoes and outfits, one hundred times, we left for the journey without food or water.
You know that adds calories ( joke). But we did have our camera's and cell phones
charged. Getting up there was easy, map quest actually worked. Tom-Tom GPS system was not involved in the driving, so it went well. Who wants to listen to him anyway?
The tunes consisted of Police, Fiction Plane, and the Police, and a Little Marvin Gay,
just for change of pace. Oh, but I digress, you wanted to know about the concert right?
Right! So Parking we jumped out in front of VIP Parking, too bad we could not park there,
Ashley's shoes and all, you remember that right?
Anyway, we went in blinded by the lights, the deer in the headlights phenomena.
We got of on the he wrong foot, by grabbing a program, which we found that was not free,
isn't everything free in the country? We learned fast, and moved to the bathroom.
One of the places you must visit before you die, A tourist in rest room, go figure?
We came out to a whole bunch of guys 19-25 year olds ,not to bad looking, thus began the hitting process, and we knew we were back in business. My parents think we are 50 year woman trapped in a
nineteen year bodies. Really, we do Flea markets, and like to go out with our parents.
Anyway, our nerves were tested when the security dude, announced we had floor seats.
I did pay a pretty penny for them in the February frenzy of presales.
We thought for a second there we were in the nose bleed section, Ashley called up our friend at the concert,
Concert mister, Tom, and asked if he brought enough tissue for his nose bleeds
way up in the sky. Seeing he had the bad seats. We made our way to our seats waiting patiently for the start when Ashley yelled out freakishly, in the highest decibel possible, dogs could hear it,
"There is Joe"! he was just walking around with his Guitar taking it all in,
No one even approached him, They probably thought he was a roadie, or security
guard getting Little fresh walking around with the bands instruments, cruising for chicks.
So there he was right in front of us, shining, well not shining, glistening would be a better word here, no glowing, even better, right next us. He must have heard my sister
yell, and turned around, he completely stopped and yelled FANS!
I guess he doesn't get many at the shows, which is sad because we have been his loyal fans
since the 90's. Granted, people thought I was a Little strange when I talked about
going to a 21+ plus at age 11. I did not drink then, and still do not, I think a 11 year might blend in in a bar, Ha,Ha. Things went too fast after that chance meeting, he waved, we waved
Ashley had meltdown, But we survived, Fiction Plane played to almost empty crowds,
I guess he did not receive the memo about CT people and their eating habits.
My little sister Megan, works at Dunkin Donuts, and there were more people getting their
fix of coffee, and an occasion pastry, then watching Joe perform.
But we were there with our bright neon signs, hoping he would spot us again.
Which wasn't easy, because they were a mile away.
We waited one hour between sets, when Joe announced he would want to meet his fans,
that had to be us? , in section 135, Where the hell, was that? Where was Tom-Tom
GPS system, when you really need him? Probably eating donuts or drinking coffee!
So, with the fear of losing our seat we stayed put. Sad and disappointed because we
just wanted to meet Joe. The vultures starting piling in, and the seat riots ensued.
A big game of musical chairs, with no winners, except the Flower chick, we will talk about her later. So once the show went on, the crowd stood up- and blocked out our good seats.
So much for floor seats. This is one of times where I hate being short.
I am taking 5ft2'' on a good day in heels maybe 5ft4". Only Ashley wore the heels, remember why? Heels make her feel thin, and lean and tall, whatever works, as long as she is not
asking questions. So the music was great, it was amazing, the show was worth all of the
time preparing, and grooming for. The Police even played "The bed is too big without you".
One of my personal favorites. Stuart was an animal on the drums, where does he get the energy, I am half his age and was ready for bed at 10:00pm.
Ashley, had lost sensation on her toes and needed to walk around. This is what
I like refer to as the "OH, bitch you didn't, affair. We wanted to be rebels, and got the best seats ever. "One row up". We could smell sweat, Okay that was the guy next to us,
along with his cigarette smoke and alcohol breath, not the band.
But we did get to see people walking on stage, granted, they looked like bugs, but we knew it was them. Thank god for technology, these days cameras can make everyone look big.
This is one of the reasons why Ashley can not be filmed.
Now, with the row change along came a hippie/ flower girl, some people may remember what they are.
Strange clothes, happy, usually high, but awesome dressers.
She was with her Jamaican boyfriend, this guy was cool, A Bob Marley relative?
After we watched them make out- a porno video in the making, Ashley relates her
boyfriend woes to me. She needs one! Anyone, anyone?
Those Security guards, let me tell you, straight out of Andy Summers, one train later book
grabbed the hippie and her boyfriend and yelled out "Yo, flower girl", stop dancing and
lets see your tickets. The auditorium Nazi didn't stop there, he just kept pushing people around. He noticed us and told to get back to our seats, one row away. Please.
But we lasted there for one hour, I had no problem with the venue, just the guards.
We did get an Oscar Schindler Savior, who did dance with the guests, and was actually nice. Bummer, we didn't have a rescuer like Andy Summers, The Argentina affair.
The show ended on a high note, three curtain calls, and Stuart mentioned something,
we believe about the flag. Didn't see it, but hoped it was there.
We waited for the seas to part, the crowd was immense, but quiet, you could tell
they were older. My kind of people. We had parked four miles away, Contemplating Two students loans ( we are cheap), thus the parking cost
and a pair of pink pumps made us a Little crazy, be we walked anyway, listening
to Police songs from all the cars. I don’t think the guys in the limos knew who WE were,
The biggest Stuart Fans, besides you lovely people.
So it took us an hour in traffic took us another hour to get back to the
cow-town, Somers, we live in.
a Little worse for the wear, but still on a rush from one of the best nights of our lives.
I will never forget this night, Ashley's feet won't let me.
As for those Pink Pumps, they are out of commission until the November concert
in Boston. Curt Schilling eat our dust!
I will keep you all posted on these important issues.
And, OH, Yes, I have Pictures and will post them for you to enjoy.
I hope you enjoyed the first installment of
Vanessa and Ashley's adventures in Concert-land!
Signing out,

Coming attractions, drunken gropers, in aisle P.

Fantastic review -- I also could have written that back in 1983 (when I was just about your age) -- right down to the pink pumps.

So glad you had a great time (and it's Joe's loss for not meeting you guys!)

Postby Nessy1337 on 03 Aug 2007 00:00

The second installment of Vanessa & Ashley in Concertland…
Aka: The Police in Rentsclers field.
The following verses to be song to the
Tune - Police- Don’t stand so close to me…

Don’t stand so close so close to ME…
“For God’s sake.”

The Concert, the excitement of 2 girl’s fantasy
stewart Copeland, the drummer, our hero
Knows where we want to be…
Green flag is flying high, No flag for Sting to see!
We waiting for new seats, rebels, we want to be…

Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
“For God Sakes”

Tom Nugent so jealous
You now how Groupies get.
Sometimes, it is not so easy to be so close
You smell peoples sweat.
Vexation, Frustration, so bad its makes you sigh..
Our friend, he is stuck in a seat so high, he can touch the sky.

Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
“For God Sakes”

Fat groper in our section
To hit on us he tries and tries.
No chance he will date us, We are not into married guys…
His wife is so jealous, she sees how much he sweats
He steps on our feet now, Ashley whispers “holy fuckin cow”.
Her pink pumps are so damage just like that movie In her shoes.
Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me

Don't stand so close to me
Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me

Hi Nessy, I was at the same show, but in the nosebleed section directly across from the stage. LOL I would have LOVED to have been up front, but The Police is worth sitting way out there to see them live. I hear ya about the sore feet...remind me to never wear heeled boots to a concert again...

Glad you had such a great time!
