I agree with most of those 'splinter' groups, but you didn't like ELP? Do you mean a recent incarnation or the original as well? Even though they became indulgent later on, i love the first 3 or 4 albums from them ...
On a sidenote, that pre-Zep video is the first time I've ever seen the very last days of the Yardbirds (and I have ALL the vids from back then, it seems that this came out recently). With the original lyrics to Dazed and Confused (different from Led Zep) and Keith Relf singing, you can clearly see why that band was going to break up. Music at the time was getting heavier and that is not what Relf or the rest of the band was really about (they were high-energy Blues and R&B). I was excited to watch it, since I havent seen anything new in almost 10 years ...
