NO Reggae Inna Di Jeggae

Whaaa Gwaaan I noticed that the REGGAE INNA di POLICE music is lacking or even non existence isn't that part of what got THE POLICE to where they are today, in fact dem a play BOB before di show starts ( Get Up Stand Up) so what gives? Man inna Suitcase ? Bring on di Night? One Worl ? Spirits Inna Di Material Worl ? Whaaa Gwaan?

The only "slight" groove is in Walking On the Moon and the Roxanne jam...but it's not the full reggae like the old days.

They have seemed to grow away from reggae.

The older I get...the more I one drop.

I thought I read somewhere that Stewart thought that the idea of reggae is not as fresh and cutting edge like it was in the late 70s and is now more interested in focusing more in other types of music.

Probably.

They come from such a different place than me I cannot judge them. It's easy to say they should play reggae...like Ska said...it got them there. Now they are older and have more than earned their status so I respectfully support them for getting me into music, and for coming back! They can do what they please. Whatever they play always sounds great to me...

..but with my 2 remaining shows to see I would LOVE to hear One World reggae, Shadows in the Rain, Bring on the Night....and what I really miss...is the REGGAE part of the jams...I never knew how much I loved them until they are gone...I thought the boys would through a little in the jams..?

Oh well...why listen to me?
seriously...I am just a little younger than two of them...no music success at all...workin a day job that has pretty well ruined my Spiritual core...lets see what else?...oh I am NOT in a band right now...

Respect Bongo boy Respect i feel the same as u we all have our own reasons as to why we love them so much. I saw a thread on the forum asking who could Stewart and Andy have play Bass if Sting didnt want to play with them after the tour, my 1st person was Aston Family Man Barret from Bob Marley & The Wailers. Why tease us with opening with BOB BLARING GET UP STAND UP WHY

I saw that thread but never read it...I was thinking the same thing...cause you mention good ole FamilyMan.

THOSE GUYS, Aston and Carlton...WOW...it's kinda like what Copeland did to my ears..but more subtle. The grooves are like magic. Some guys cannot get that bassline feel...and you need it to do the proper One Drop that The Wailers did so well.

I wonder how many songs were inspired by the drums n bass of "Exodus"
that bassline really woke me up as a drummer !!!!

OT: I bought a full CD of Gilberto Gil covering Bob Marley songs in Lima. Can't wait to give it a whirl...I bet it's gonna be awesome.
