I think these are the albums in DVD format to take advantage of the 5.1 sound

OMG 5.1 mixes of all the albums would be AWESOME!

I've managed to get some fan-made ones (Synchronicity & Ghost itM) but they're not official (and not *true* 5.1) mixes. Zenyatta and Regatta would be so sweet in 5.1!

Please keep us posted!!!

I found one of them on the redeye.com.au site:

POLICE - ZENYATTA MONDATTA - DVD HOL
release date : 10.09.2007
AUS $43.98export approx USA $33.56
A CRITICAL REVIEW, INCL. INSIDERS INTERVIEWS 2 PRE

Looks like it's one of those "unofficial" interview records, but on DVD instead. That's just pure speculation, though...

There are tons of those 'Critical Review'....if you are a die-hard fan collecting everything, that could be interesting....but consider that usually those dvd's are full of interviews to people that worked with the band, pics, a narrator, etcc... rarely contains interesting stuff such as live tracks; maybe some private footage, and a few interviews taken from some tv shows...but I don't sincerely know anything about the forthcoming one, so maybe it will be good, maybe not...

Rarely the band is directly involved

This is one I found

Rock Milestones The Police Regatta De Blanc (2007)

i have seen this on Amazon however it is released a lot later and I don't know if it is the same one as at redeye

I'm going to send an email to Nick or Steve who run it since I have bought stuff from there before and see if they can give me anymore information.

keep you informed.

I sure Zenyatta Mondatta was mentioned at Stingus

hi recieved a reply from Nick from redeye

Looks like it will be a similar deal. There is a bunch of these unauthorized DVD documentaries on albums that feature interviews with producers, fans, journalists etc. but are rarely of excellent quality. They never feature new interviews with band members so my advice would be to wait for some customer reviews.
Regards,

basically what Gio said

Yeah, there have always been these types of unofficial and unauthorized interview/opinion/review releases...I remember in the 90s there was a line of VHS tapes that usually had the title, "[band] The Interview Sessions", or "[band] The Unauthorized Documentary", and as the music buyer at the store I was at, I had to be wary that it wasn't total crapola. I usually never stocked them, unless a customer special ordered them.

I *do* recall one of these being rather good, and that was a tape called "U2 The Interview Sessions". I recall that the tape had some rather rare interviews, one from *very* early in their career, being interviewed at an American college (on a lawn). Another interview was taken from U.K. (maybe Ireland) television circa 1988 (I think). I remember Adam Clayton sitting with (and drinking) a pint of Guinness while being interviewed. There was no musical performances, of course, but if you were a U2 fan I'm sure it was great to have.

So you never know what may be on these new DVDs. It's worth keeping an eye on it, maybe a rare early interview may appear...
