reserve - general - which is closer to stage? help!

as i am about to try buying presale tickets for an oz show tomorrow, i need to know if i should get reserved seats or general admin tickets.

but they don't make it easy. presale starts tomorrow morning and they have not even explained if general admission tickets will get you closer to the stage, or reserved seats. there is no seating plan there, at ticketmaster, for the mcg or aami stadium, for this show. and i'll bet that whilst i'm on the phone to the venue tomorrow morning, the tickets will be selling all the while. this is poorly organised.

i am presuming that the same seating arrangement is used for most shows, given they are using a standard set up for most performances. does any one know if the closes seats to the stage are reserved seats or general admission tickets?

Im in the same situation as you.

I definitely dont want to be smack bang right at the front, but centre maybe 15 rows back so i can see the whole stage (to be honest would prefer have best view of Stewarts drumming )
Ticketmaster has told me that the A-class seats are a block 40 wide and 60 rows back, but they still have no confirmation on seating/concert layout.

I am sure others who have been to the concerts already can clarify what we can expect.

that's right. but because there is no seating map (thanks ticketmaster - less than 24 hrs to go and tix are $250) - we don't know *where* the gen admin 'standing' section is. is there a standing section right up close to the stage? or is there a seated section first? if i'm spending $250 i want to be as close as i can get. and they haven't given any indication as to what the case will be. to be honest i ain't real happy about it, i think it represents piss-poor organisation for a presale for fans who know that potentially the best seats will go in minutes. we aren't going to have time to faff about making calls when the ticket vendors are open..... it's unbelievable. the announcement comes less than 1 day before the sale starts, so we have no time to find this shit out. it's a crock, especially for a $100 fee.

Maybe they really don't know since this is the first concert since the ground has been up graded?

could you also post tj7 how you went and give some idea of seating after you buy the tickets which I really would appreciate since I have to wait until the public sales which I do not have a problem with.

I've no idea.... what a nightmare! Ticketmaster's usually pretty good on giving the best orientations on what you want to see, best views for the bucks.

I thought with the general admission, it was a bit of a cram, first come first served, and a lot of jockeying for position during the concert.

Are both reserved and GM seats $250? If GM are cheaper, then I would expect reserved would be closer to the stage, but if they're the same, then do what george said...buy both, and sell off the ones you don't want. A bit of a pain & extra expense until you sell off the ones you don't want, but at least you'll be sure to get what you want that way....

well, managed to get A reserve row G seats 14-16 for AAMI stadium. jeez some people must be able to type fast. maybe not many front rows seats were offered in the presale. might try again when the public sale starts and if i get better seats i'll sell the lesser ones. hopefully i'll score well for melbourne as well....

I did well for NZ but it's not just about typing....

They sell some blocks for presale but not necessarily front row. Many of those may be reserved for giveaways, vips, packages.....

In NZ, both GAs are nowhere near the stage-both are behind the floor seats! to quote phaty, for fucks sake!
