The Doors

The Doors

I know this is not really current news or anything, but does anyone have MP3s of Stewart with the Doors? I have always been curious what that was like. I tape their Tonight show appearance (or was it Lettterman or Conan?) but can't seem to find that tape.

If no one has MP3, did anyone at least see one of the shows?

I went to see them at the Universal Ampitheater here in L.A. I think it was in '03... got in and as soon as they got up on stage I noticed Ian Astbury, Robbie Krieger and Ray Manzarek with some bald/shaved-head guy playing a Yamaha drumset and thought to myself "I really don't think this is Stewart Copeland." Then I walked out to the lobby area and asked someone at one of the merch booths and he told me that Stewart had just messed up his wrist a couple of days before riding his bike around his neighborhood and had just backed out of the tour and the guy on drums right now is a replacement session guy.

I walked out and got in my car and went right across the street to the Baked Potato and saw Andy Summers playing in front of about 20 people. I must have been sitting about 5 feet away from him and as I recall he played great that night. But yeah, that's my only experience with The Doors w/Stewart Copeland (really without Stewart Copeland...)

I have three of the Doors shows with Stewart on cd, email me if you're interested in copies.

It's interesting, and you can definitely hear Stewart all over the performances...but that's probably why it didn't work out. I don't think they wanted a drummer with that much personality in his style.

Ooh! I would sockii, if that's all right.

I saw the Doors-ish recently, but nary a Copeland in sight, EQ.

Hey Equalizer -

Yes, I did, sorry about that - it ended up getting caught by my junk mail filter so I didn't see it right away.

Giga might work faster/easier for me--I'll email you probably next week with some links (I have to dash out this weekend down to Maryland to work a Sci Fi convention, LOL)...
