The Police in St. Paul, MN

Wooohooo! I saw the Police on Tuesday night in St. Paul and it was AWESOME! I've never been able to see them in concert before since I was just a little girl when they broke up so this was such a privilege for me! I can't believe I was in the same room with them! (Quite a few yards away, but still breathing the same air as them! Hee hee!) :D

I got a little worried about Stewart at first, because he kept closing his eyes while playing and I thought maybe he was gonna pass out or have a heart attack or something, but later on he perked up more so that was a relief.

A double dose of Regatta De Blanc, too! My favorite song! 8)

A newspaper here gave them a bad review and claimed that they appeared to be showing obvious tensions between them that they always had, but that's ludicrous if you ask me. I thought they seemed to be getting along just fine.

Thanks Stewart, Andy and Sting for getting back together and making my dream come true! :D

Yeah completely ludicrous. See my review, with Andy and Stewart pulling faces and cracking up laughing at each other like highschoolers. Also they came together and did a curtain call while holding hands. They seemed to enjoy each other. I think the press just doesn't get that they have sort of a slightly wise-cracking manner with each other that doesn't take their personas too seriously.

I just read the Pioneer Press piece. The Star Tribune review was negative as well, but not quite as bad. I sent the guy a long, point by point refutation of his article. He really is full of crap. He tried to make up some big drama about their being unbearable tension on stage during Every Breath You Take. Unbearable tension? Was that when Stewart cracked up laughing at Andy pulling faces? Yeah sounds unbearable to me. Then he laments their loss of comraderie 9as did the Strib writer). Well aside from the fact that they have been apart for 21 years, I think they do have the old chemistry. Yup the same juvenile taking the piss out of Sting. The same Sting hamming it up, revving up the crowd, working his butt off. This dude had the gall to call his performance sloppy. That is just wrong.

He did have nice things to say about Stew calling him the star of the show. Yay!

I should have known better than to actually read this hater crap, but I just had to when Tigress posted. Ugg. I hope the Chicago papers are kinder.

I don't think the vid does it justice at all, but it's still awesome to have something from St. Paul. Roxanne is up now too.

I know, it's nuts! I don't know why these journalists keep saying that! I couldn't detect any friction between any of them throughout the performance. I thought Sting's cracks during "So Lonely" was hilarious - "the Andy Summers show" and "the Stewart Copeland show". And Sting and Andy were really hamming it up together a few times during Andy's guitar solos.

I think these journalists just wanted to make their articles seem more interesting and dramatic so they "spiced" them up with exaggerations about so-called problems in the band. You simply can't listen to critics because they're not always right.

So Lonely was a highlight for me. It has long been one of my favorites. Seeing it live. Wow.

Did your ears just about start bleeding during Andy's solo? Notes that only dogs could hear.

The only slightest bit of tension or friction that I have noticed this tour was during the Dodger Stadium show. Sting did his "Let me introduce the band; Andy this is Stewart, Stewart this is Andy" which caused Stewart to say "I think 20,000 people here have heard that joke already (a joke made during the announcement of the tour at the Whiskey). However, this seemed really slight. Overall, to me, it at least appears that the guys are getting along pretty well.

If Stewart wasn't in the background making snarky, smart-ass comments I'd be worried something was up. Their chemistry has always been like this. Sting says something, "This song is called, I Feel so Lonely" and Stewart chimes in with perfect timing, "I'm not surprised."

You know there's tension when they are all very polite to one another.
