What are you listening to?

Postby GinaSuperCat on 16 May 2007 17:47

Ya, like YHF (was simply obsessed with 'Camera'), there was a period of say 6 months on end where I would listen to Mermaid Ave1 at least once per day when it came out...even though it was not necessarily a happy collaboration...went to friend's parties and bbq's and it was playing there, too...both vol. are still in the disc changer...

Unlike AM, YHF, and Mermaid Ave--instant addiction--A Ghost is Born and Summer Teeth took a few go's to get me hooked...re-adjusting budget for this week for Sky Blue Sky since we have a 2 hour drive tomorrow, I love listening to new albums that way: it's just you and the road and the album, nothing else...

Totally.

I like the 2nd Mermaid Ave but not as much as the first one.

Have you got the DVD Sunken Treasure by Jeff tweedy? Get it !!!

You can download a bunch of his acoustic songs from the DVD which by the way is awesome, he's really funny.

I am partial to the singer songwriter thing, I like guys who are still doing it the old fashioned way...just about the songs really. No posing.

The Police were always cool to me because they were doing pop but in a "real" way. Good musicians, smart lyrics. Good times.

Imagine Wilco opening for the boys?...I'd dig that !

Cheers.

From a ways back: the new Wilco recording is outstanding. Y'all might consider picking up a few albums by the amazing Nels Cline, who's playing guitar for Wilco right now. His solo work is mostly jazz stuff; GSC and I got to see him with Scott Amadou at Bonnaroo and it was incredible. Even after a 14 hour day out in the hot sun.

WILT: Hannah's mix discs, of course! Which will be keeping me company in the car on the drive to St. Louis. And so I can finally give her a coherent listing of which songs I love, but so far I love everything on them, so it's been kind of hard.

The Rythmatist

Really a great album. I love hearing Ray Lema's voice, i bought some of his other albums. Stewart should defenitly hook up with him for another album.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's working correctly, Krok...it's kind of skipping. FYI.

Heh... I'm working on a Stewart one, hopefully done tomorrow.

Is it? It seems to be playing OK both from home and work. But then, I have highspeed connections at both places, so maybe it's that.

Hey!! I knew we had two WAYLT threads...

Right now I'm watching the rerun of the Madonna gig from Live Earth. Damn, she was awesome! 50 years old and can still dance & sing like that? No wonder she's buddies with Stingo...

Yeah, one is ancient and happened when Turkish attack was on here, and also when guest can write some messages, and the other one is newer.

And from Madonna, I think she is 48, not 50, but anyway, she is in a very good shape!
