I'm afraid I don't know what you mean, Georgy. Are you asking if the word "banshee" itself is supposed to have power? In which case, no, it's not the word that has the power but the wailing sound that banshees make.

Although banshees aren't quite like the Sirens in Homer -- a banshee cry doesn't put you under a magic spell or anything. Sometimes in stories the banshee sound is a lure but usually it's a message, a warning, or a lament.

Does that make sense?
