Vancouver Province article June 5

Postby amaninasuitcase on 05 Jun 2007 21:35

That article really pissed me off. I am huge fan who has waited for this tour for a very long time.
If I could personally share a conversation with Stewart right now I would thank him for his comments he made here on his official site. It's a real shame how the whole thing was taken out of context.
Everyone needs to remember that these guys have not toured together for over twenty years.
Ya I spent over $500 for two tickets and I don't really give a shit for a couple of screw ups or mishaps.
True fans will be perfectly content that they are even touring again.

Cheers everyone.

I am a true fan and saw them twice in the day and three times in Vancouver . I love the band!

They really blew it. I know, I was there. And you know who was the second to admit it. Stew...........I guess maybe Stew and I are not true fans.......
It was a tough show for some including the band.
We should move on but not in denial.....
I just read this article in our local rag this morning. I can't says I like the content but here it is

www.canada.com/theprovince/news/letters ... e7827cfb91

Me thinks this concert go-er/goner is beyond lame.
Stewart had already summarized this show up in his own words and we all know where he stands. Perhaps it is time for the media to stop beating the proverbial "dead horse" so Stewart can get on with beating the hell out of those drums :!:
I don't get this. Didn't the reviewer say "the performance we thought was kind of cool" Surely this is the most important bit !!

Stewart was just talking about the performance from his point of view,

Maybe even Stewart can dance a little.
I'm totally on-board with this idea, mudspoke.

Stewart, . . .
Dang! that would be awesome. He could pick up a few moves from a boy band. Think of the outfits, (sequined tube socks!) The choreography (jazz hands, Andy, Jazz hands!). Maybe they could have giant prop Octobans that Stewart could play with comically large sticks (ala that old Hall N oats video). Hey if U2 can come out of a giant Lemon, why the f not?! I say, for the amount of money we're laying out I want them to sacrifice all of their integrity and their dignity to entertain me.
Thanks to Sockii (you rockii) for awesome Avatar photo!

You have to understand something about the media here in Vancouver. They are renown for sinking to all time lows just to incite controversy. They spin things way out of context just to sell papers, and get sued all the time. Not just entertainment writers but also sports and especially politics. They make a living from being dorks. When you are exposed to any sort of media here, you must take it with a few grains of salt. The doofus that wrote this article was probably one of the "fans" who sat down all night.
I was there all 3 nights and ya, the 30th wasn't the tightest performance but it was still THE POLICE!!! It was a unique and unforgettable experience! I got to see Stewart have fun up there even when he tripped and stumbled around. And the looks the guys gave each other after a blunder can't be put into words. It was entertaining as hell and it was worth every penny!
Maybe all the pessimists should go back six months to when all this was but a figment of one's imagination.
I don't wanna work, I just wanna bang on the drums all day.

I just don’t get it. Steven Rechtschaffner, from West Vancouver, which is one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in town, could probably easily afford his ticket, he also admitted that the show was cool and he is the one complaining and wants a free concert?. I don’t think Stewart posted his message to piss anybody off. I assume he just shared his honest experience in HIS forum, where most of his fans actually haven’t even been so lucky and seen the concert yet. So maybe he just wanted to let them know and admitted that the Police are only human and they show may not turn out a 100% perfect. I think a true fan cares more about the effort and the passion a band puts into the show not if he/she got his/her money out of it. And face it, it is only music.
