Modern Drummer Festival 06 DVD - comments

Postby sockii on 23 May 2007 11:01

I just got the DVD set from the Modern Drummer festival. It contains three of the songs that Stewart & Gizmo played - about 15 minutes of their set (sadly not their awesome version of Darkness which I'd still kill for SOME recording of).

The second disc contains a 22-minute interview with Stewart backstage; there's not a lot of new info for those us here, though he does talk a little bit about technique, stick grip, etc.

I'll get some screencaps up for my site eventually, but it might be a couple weeks before I get around to it.

The ordering link for the dvd set is already up in the Links section.

Hmmm - Forty bucks for three songs. I'll have to think about it.

Sockii, is that clip from youtube you posted a while back part of this package, or can we still maybe hold out for a possible longer Gizmo-specific release?

I dunno about it. I always buy music DVD's....but....

does "Copie" drum during the interview part? or just talking with the practice pad type thing?.

I dunno.

I am not really into the other drummers too much, I know they are all great...but y'know....Copeland rules the earth.

Cheers.

It's the same footage that was in the "preview" on the Modern Drummer page (I don't know if that was on youtube) except the preview had the interview clips mixed with the performance footage.

>does "Copie" drum during the interview part? or just talking with the practice pad type thing?.

Mostly talking, with just a tiny bit on a practice pad showing his traditional grip, and a little bit on the high hat that he gives up on pretty quick for being "too big" and loose to really illustrate his technique.

I'm not sure it's worth the price for the set unless you're an absolute diehard (like me, *cough*) and/or were there and want it for the 'memories'.

Nothing to do with the youtube link. The footage was drawn from the 16.09.06 NY, USA Modern Drummer Festival.
Shame it does not include much more footage ...
