Andy in Rolling Stone re: possible new music, album

Page 24 of th 40th Anniversary issue of Rolling Stone:

"The Police plan to break out some new material on their summer reunion tour, according to guitarist Andy Summers. "We've been jamming accoustically lately, and we've been really enjoying it," Summers said in London in early April. "We'll be playing a couple of new songs at the shows in the summer." The trio's tour - its first in twenty-three years - begins May 28th in Vancouver and runs through October. "I never expected such a high demand," Said Summers. "We were booked to play arenas on many of the dates, but we ended up having to upgrade to stadiums." When they wrap up the shows, Summers said, there has been talk of cutting their long awaited sixth album. "If we do well with these concerts, we may well make an album. I can't see why not.""

excellent. I just don't know what I would do with myself if they come out with a new album. I just don't know...

It would more exciting than i could possibly describe to hear new material from The Police. Those of us who grew up during that time have waited so long. The only catch - it's been so long that the criticism of this new material, good or bad, will be extremely harsh. There will be endless comparisons that any new song they put out is "not as good as Message in a Bottle", or doesn't have the "same fell as Driven To Tears." Of course not! It's 2007. Our boys have lived whole lives since parting ways back in the 80's. And so have we. Yea, it may not sound the same. But ...do you wear the same clothes you did back then? Eat the same food? Have the same hairline? lol. I doubt it. Things change. Having said that, bring on the new Police songs! Let the devil take the hindmost.

So if those Andy statements from the signing in London are being re-printed in Rolling Stone are we to assume that the official statement from TPT about no possibility of new music on the tour and/or album was indeed as some of us had suspected, crowd control?..."but I aint one to gossip, so you didn't hear that from me" <wicked grin>

No disrespect to anyone intended, but I'll be a heckovalot more likely to believe something I hear straight from the horse's mouth - Andy, Stewart or Sting - than something I read from some handler.

Well, I never thought I'd see a reunion tour, so at this point, why not? I expect to see pigs flying any day now. Hell might be freezing over soon anyway, due to global warning, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I think will be wonderful the possibility of a new album, it doesn´t matter if there are same songs playing at the world tour gigs, or even Roxanne from Grammys 2007.

Anyway I still loving all Police music, and if it'll be there a possibility of few, but more songs, sounds terrific.
