Following from Mike's lead, here's the link to contact Richard Kingsmill, the program director for Triple J Australia:

http://www2b.abc.net.au/triplej/2003/guestbook/

+ his email address is:

kingsmill.richard@abc.net.au

Please write in the guestbook AND email him re: rebroadcasting Sydney 1980! Triple J DO have this show in their vaults - they rebroadcast "message" from this show last year:

Cheers folks....

Hey! I take it you guys are Aussies too. :P

I know about the fantastic EON FM (now Triple M) radio broadcast of the Melbourne Festival Hall show, which in my honest opinion is probably the BEST live Police recording both in quality and energy that you will ever hear, but never knew about this little gem!! How has it been hidden away for so long?? What more have these radio stations got hidden?

How did you find out about it?

Thanks for posting this! :P I am going to hound Richard Kingsmill until they play it.

hey everyone- if you check over at the PoliceTour messageboard, somebody put up Melbourne 1980 sounds like a radiobroadcast- it's a hell of a show- also dubbed "evolution 1 & 2" cd. It's under: Recording & Songs: Melbourne 80.

yep - but not to be confused with SYDNEY 1980, which has only been circulating as a low quality multi-gen fm copy so far.... hence the triple J sydney 1980 request....

Word from the station is that they will 'Try ' and reschedule the show for May for their next 'impossible music festival' which they do each year.

If you haven't already mailed richard kingsmill - see details at start of thread - please do so!
