I'm going to try to respond to the last few posts in one go. For an intro to JMC I agree with nathanarizona (great screen name, by the way) that Darklands would be a good introduction for most. I also really like Stoned & Dethroned. Their debut Psychocandy is considered their classic but it's not for everyone - incredibly sweet vocal melodies against a wall of feedback.
Divemistress, nope no Coachella for me. I'm not a big fan of festival shows. I'm just counting on the inevitable JMC tour. (I hope they don't break out into another brawl on stage before I can see them!)
Conroy, I saw Mani with Primal Scream as well. He is fantastic! I like the Roses/JMC double bill idea DirtyMartini posted. Mani could play bass for both - when he was joining Primal Scream he was quoted as saying the JMC would be one of the few other bands he'd want to join. Oh, and Mani ALMOST played with Stewart. Mani joined Mad For The Racket for their British tour, Stewart was supposed to be along for the ride but must have had a schedule conflict. I would LOVE to see Stewart and Mani on the same stage, that would be one powerful rhythm section!
And yes, Hannaha as much as I love the man, I must admit Ian Brown can not sing live. When I saw him with the Roses I was prepared for the worst but he sounded on key all night - of course the racket the band made might have made it hard to tell. (I watched him do a live in studio session for the BBC, I believe. I was a bit worried he would embarrass himself but he actually sang very well. This leads me to believe he needs a really good monitor set up to hear himself and stay in key.) I've since seen him twice as a solo artist and both times I've vowed to never see him live again. I will keep buying his records though. I'd prefer the Roses to get back together but I do really like his solo records.
