Punkspring2007&Thanks, Stewart
1/4/2007 Makuhari messe (near Tokyo)
around 15:50
I stood still vacantly, surrounded about 100 Japanese punk fans (teenagers and early their twenties) moshing and dancing to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.
Sometimes they run into me that I had almost pushed away.
But I kept my place in front of DJ booth waiting for Stewart with other three fans. (One is 21-year-old college student, whose his mother is Police fan , the other two are maybe early thirties)
16:00
Before Stew go up the booth(about 5 meters high), a movie company staff (the same person at the movie theater on Mar.31) gave a brief publicity on 'Everyone stares'.
The music were from 'Everyone' soundtrack. There were still many young rock fans there, but it seems most of them didn't know the Police and were a little puzzled.
But after a while, they got to come closer to the booth and enjoyed the music.
I afraid how Stewart thought about Japanese fans' reaction today.
In fact, his mike sound was not clear and we could not hear enough what he say….
There were two other DJ's to support Stewart, so they should help him in
language problem. I think.
Meanwhile, I wrote my message '' YOUR FILM AWESOME' on a big paper and showed. Stewart noticed and thumbs up to me.
I'm really happy to see his film in Japan this time.
Lots of Japanese people seemed so moved by Stewarts' sincere attitude toward fans.
If 'Everyone stares' didn't exist, there could be no chance for meeting him (and, under some circumstances, no opportunity for the reunion..
perhaps..).
Stewart, thank you very much for shooting this great documentary and sharing with us what happened in the band at the times.
I hope you and your family have a safe flight.
