Stewart and Andy on the last ship album ?

Stewart and Andy on the last ship album ?

Postby Bonty on 17 Jun 2013 08:32

Is it true that stewart and andy are playing on the new Sting Album - The last ship =?

That would means that new The Police songs changed into Sting songs.....it could be old recordings of 2007-2008 and now they turned into sting solo song´s.

Who knows ?

We will see what stewart have 2 say about it.

Where did you hear this? If this is true, this would be HUGE news. Hard to believe there would have been no word of Stewart recording with Sting again. I mean, Andy has recorded with Stingo a few times post-Police but this would be a first for STEWART, no?

Could someone verify one way or another? I am now very curious. Would likely result in my buying my first Sting CD since Ten Sumners Tales (Or whatever that one was called)

It would be the first for me since the Soul Cages. When was that, 1992?

Reliable source?
And for what I can hear, I also doubt Stewart and Andy are on this album:

Sincerely I talked to Stewart last week about the new Sting album and he didn't tell me anything about his appearance on the album; I guess it's untrue.
The singer from AC/DC is on it.

Took a moment after work onTuesday to view this vevo link, and actually enjoyed the music I could hear in background of interview, and this is the first time since "nothing Like the Sun" that has been the case. Could have been the "non-confessional" nature (springboarding off of something Sting said early into it) of the compositions, but did find them enjoyable. Actually, my boyfriend & I had been discussing not too long ago how we both enjoyed Blue Turtles & Sun, but nothing afterwards, just seeming the same. So, I will have to be open minded, and not so hardhearted, and give Gordon a chance on this Last Ship.
Have never heard of or viewed vevo before, and this interview led me to another 30 or 40 minutes of Simple Minds video viewing ( I STILL love Jim Kerr!!), and the lone Adam Ant, after which I realized this was beginning to be Madness (anothe great band of the era) and I HAD TO STOP!!!!
Thanks for link, sorry no Stewart nor Andy (Sting's loss-as well as fans-as usual), really & thoroughly enjoyed.

If you like the sound of The Last Ship, you may also like the album called IF ON A WINTER'S NIGHT, that I consider a great great album, with incredible gems on it; or watch the dvd of the only live show he did at Durham Cathedral to promote the release; you can't miss it, trust me, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxZNTZhloiQ

You're welcome!
There's a Vevo channel on The Police, but nothing new. And still the same mistake, just like many other sites, crediting the "Demolition man" video to the band while it's Sting's version.

I don't know what to think on his forthcoming album at the moment. I need more music to have an idea. As always, I will wait until it's out before deciding if I buy it. But since "Nothing like the sun", Sting's records have always disappointed me. And just like you, my favorite one is also "Blue Turtles". I have to say I don't like at all the general sound of his records since "The soul cages". That's why I gave up so long ago.

Jim Kerr… That's funny you mention him. It's the guy I have the best memory. We went with my wife to a small venue in the Alps about 10 years ago and Simple Minds were there. After the show, we accidentally fell on Jim Kerr who had finished signing autographs and looked very tired. But instead of walking away, he went to us as we were smiling at him (of course!). We told him it was OK, that we didn't need any autograph and complimented him and the band for the nice concert. We told him to go to rest, we didn't want to take more of his time. So he thanked us and said goobye. Charming man. Many would have escaped instead of talking again with the fans.
