Funny thing is that I do not think Lady Gaga is the worst part of that performance.

Lady Gaga is what she is. Love her or hate her, you pretty much know what to expect from her. But Sting? The disappointment comes from the fact that we know he is capable of so much more. He's just coasting now, and it's sad. He needs a good creative kick in the ass (like Stewart and Andy used to give him).
