Sunday Times magazine with THE POLICE cover

There, here, at home, on other messageboards...I just hear a lot of friends and folks saying to me, "Oh well, I thought it was cool at first, but now I think it's all about the money, so I'm just going to sit at home and listen to my old cds and forget about it." And this from some folks I know who I thought were big fans...

I agree with animal; I can't get past Sting's comments without getting a little teary myself. To me this is the final answer of "why", and I don't really need to argue it beyond that:

"Look, we’re doing this for each other, we have to play for each other. And we’re playing for Kim, our tour manager who died, and we are playing for Ian, Stewart’s brother who died."

Great article. I just felt the bit about Andy not practicing after the split was a little odd and out of context. The writer makes it sound like he stopped playing in '86 and only recently began playing seriously again, when he's made what, a dozen or more albums in the last 20 years..?

The best part about this article is that it reaffirms the feeling I got from Sting at The Whisky - that he is completely genuine about wanting to be in The Police again.

Ya, Omaha, that part struck me too...about Andy...given the records and the festival appearances, etc...I wonder what that meant, 'not practicing' heh :)

The thought of being in that room with Sting in tears is something I cannot even begin to imagine...

I suspect it was an isolated period in the late 80s after the split. He certainly rediscovered his muse. His solo albums just got better and better. I particularly like his albums of Monk and Mingus covers.

>It gives me goosebumps everytime I read it.

I agree with you ,animal. The word 'happy' don't suit when If quote the story about
Ian and Kim. I'm sorry.

>Look, we’re doing this for each other, we have to play for each other.

I also was so moved to reading this.
