OT.... Mother's day ...

OT.... Mother's day ...

Postby kimmy on 03 Apr 2011 19:12

Well it's mother's day here in the UK.... I put up a post to my mum on Facebook and one of my Dutch friends posted that Mother's day in Holland is in May..

It got me thinking... Could you travel the world and 'hit' a mothers day for every month of the year???

Sooo... Being an international site here I thought I'd ask ya??

What country are you in do you celebrate mother's day and when please??

Hey Kimmy! Nice to see you around these parts.
In Canada, we celebrate on the second Sunday of May, same day as the US. I have a friend who recently married a guy from Scotland. She was fretting all week because she now has to worry about what she calls "Scottish Mother's Day" as well as our regular Mothers' Day.
I think France celebrates Mothers' Day in May but a week earlier than in North America. The year I lived in France and hung out with a lot of British students, I called my mom three times before wishing her happy Mothers' Day on the correct day for Canada.
Belated Happy Mothers' Day to all our UK friends!

Cheers LL. I love that story about when you were in France.

I got belated flowers and a huge card and a beautiful little heart necklace about 2 hours ago.

Better late than never right? I'm feeling all loved and appreciated right now.

I asked my co-worker how her "Scottish Mothers' Day" went. She said she and her husband had planned to have flowers sent, but when her mother-in-law caught wind of this she nixed the idea as the price of flowers is inflated around Mothers' Day. So she's going to send them half way between the two Mothers' Days when the price is lower. That's going to make it a real Scottish Mothers' Day.
