Only a short one :
Last Friday I managed to sleep of a healthy hang over and make it over to the Big Top to catch the first band of the afternoon : I blame Coco. Well, to start with I was expecting something that would sooth my weary ears from the night before...something soft and gentle, like I'd heard on the internet. How wrong I was ! What we actually got was excruciatingly loud (probably one of the loudest groups of all weekend!)and bold Synth rock set filled with soaring and quite memorable choruses and pulsating verses. I remeber saying to myself that some of it sounded like a synthy Fiction Plane, her voice is actually quite like Joe's mixed with a bit of Tanita Takarum (Remeber "Twist in my sobriety" ?), while the classic key changes that lead to the choruses felt very much like her father's songwriting habits. Musically, it was very much a group, and not just Coco. Bless her, she is tiny and very teenage looking, and maybe if I dare say it she should put on a bit of weight (I mean does she eat ?)...and she was dressed like she'd forgotten her suitcase and had to borrow her boyfriend's clothes. Whatever...she pulled it off and I think that the crowd loved it and she seemed quite surprised at their reaction. Good luck Coco...it's not totally original what your doing, but you've got some good songs and a great band...you just need to find your suitcase !
Cheers
