OT - picking brains again

Postby themudderqueen on 03 Apr 2010 09:44

K - so I am going to buy my son a PA system - SMALL TIME. Any advice on a good start up system? He just started playing publicly in the last 8 months or so, has relied on borrowing - 19th birthday coming up. Say - $600-$1000, do I have any hope? THANKS!

BUMP

I'm sorry MQ I've got no idea but someone here must have knowledge of this technical stuff.

Hope your Son has a great birthday. X

Where are you located? I can recommend music professionals you can consult with, otherwise checkout Mackie, Yamaha and JBL pa systems for a starter. Need to know more info such as: how portable, how big are the venues, etc.

Bumping because I need this info too.

Small places -- 50 - 200 peeps, but would love something somewhat scalable for larger outdoor opportunities. Often outdoors -- beach bars -- if that matters. I would like to be able to lift and set it up without any help. I drive a small SUV, so it should be able to fit in there with my kit and a couple of guitars, if necessary. Could be driving up to four mics, plus 2-3 guitars. What else do you need to know?

Hi Jeff, I tried to contact you on the email you have listed at this site; I guess you didn't get it. We live in north Orange County and Kiernan goes to South Orange County to visit relatives. We have always used Guitar Center for everything, just because - well, because it's the only music store I am familiar with and I'm paying, lol.
