The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2010-2011 season with premiere of Stewart's Gamelan concerto, entitled Gamelan D'Drum.

It will be on February 3-5, 2011.

Here is the link and the info in the orchestra's brochure:
Feb 3-5 Premiere Drumming Jaap van Zweden and Dallas-based world percussion ensemble D'Drum play the premiere of Gamelan D'Drum by Steward Copeland, drummer from The Police. Intrada for brass and percussion by Willem van Otterloo casts a ceremonial mood; Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3, Scottish, was inspired by the folk songs and dramatic landscapes of Scotland.
According to a comment on a Dallas blog, Stewart will not be performing but will be in attendence:

"OK. I have an answer from the DSO: 'He will be here, but is not performing.'"

ETA: And here is the story from the Dallas Morning News

The paragraph discussing Stewart:
The season's two world premieres are a new Organ Concerto by Danish composer Poul Ruders, with Mary Preston as soloist, and American composer Stewart Copeland's percussion concerto, Gamelan D'Drum, with the percussion ensemble D'Drum, including DSO percussionists Douglas Howard and Ronald Snider. Works by Witold Lutoslawski, Manuel Ponce, Ennio Morricone, Steven Stucky and Willem van Otterloo will have their first DSO performances.
That's a whole year away! Plenty of time to contemplate. What's up in the meantime, SC? ;-)
