OT - Is Carey's signature Sonor snare worth it?

I recently discovered that Sonor is now selling a signature snare by Tool's Danny Carey.

Here is some info on it from the Sonor website:

Here's a video review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA3TK8xHIxg

The real question I have is, "Is it worth the price?" The MSRP is a jaw dropping $1,079.99. That is 620 pounds for those in the UK. FUCK! While I am sure that you can easily get the drum for less than that (I'm guessing in the $600 to $700 range), that is still really fucking expensive. Especially given, based on the snare sound I hear from Tool, I suspect that this snare is not gonna be something likely to be your everyday, workhorse snare (unless you are Danny Carey).

Anyone know anything about this snare? Fallout Mike? Anyone?

PS In comparison, Stewart's signature Tama snare has a MSRP of only $509.99, can easily be obtained for $300 to$400, and is a great everyday drum.
There is no bigger gong.

EQ, you have to understand that Sonor's stuff has always been very VERY expensive. Most of it is worth every penny. From what I have read, the Carey snare is receiving mixed reviews. I personally would go for the new Phil Rudd signature snare (but not the kit) if I were into such things. Like Stewart's it's a 5"x14" chrome-over-brass (COB), except that it's SEAMLESS. I am really fussy that way, and I wish that, despite it's great sound, Stewart's drum was as well.

MY favorite drum is my 1969 Sonor 5"x14" D-444. Seamless, possibly COB, definitely not steel, could be aluminum. Insanely powerful, sensitive, and versatile. It has the coolest internal muffler that adds about a pound to the weight. I got it for about $280 on eBay. Stewart's is a very close second, though. In fact, that was my #1 snare for years until I got the Sonor earlier this year.
