Today's tv taping with the Police

The most notable celebrity I spotted was former MTV VJ Matt Pinfield who was standing right next to us in the VIP line.[/quote]

We saw him getting a sandwich at the Blimpie next door.

WORST Blimpie I have ever been to, BTW.

I think it's sort of supposed to be the Hendrix jacket:

Adam Ant! Now it's getting really nostalgic. Had a soft spot for prince charming once. What happened to him?

Sorry if I always thought that he was a talentless jerk, I guess I was too old to enjoy his music when they came out (with the exception of Ant Rap, which I liked.)

He basically got strung out on coke/crack, lost his looks and his hair, was arrested for carrying a weapon and behaving incoherently some time ago.
I don't know if he came out of that predicament, but frankly, listen to Stand and Deliver today and let me know what you think. :x

Listen to Stand and Deliver? Nah, I won't spoil my memories. Got an album somewhere in the attic, but I think I'll leave it there. Shame though that he had such misfortune.

BTW, re: Thread Subject, a friend sent me some interesting comments of tp.commers that were at the taping as well.

Apparently the Stingers noticed a tension bordering friction between Stew and Sting that did not appear here in our forum.
These posts stressed how Sting's body language and words transpired a total detachment from the band, as when he said that this final night will be his happiest moment.

Andy, on the other hand, was kind of definitely hinting at a continuation, as usual.

I can't stop wondering if Andy is working with EvilNation to keep up the interest and the sales alive. :?:

VERY nice to have public props for Miss Gradenko, even if it could've been tongue in cheek, wasn't there so don't know.....but I love dancing to that song!!!

MOST obviously: It's Sting we are talking about
I actually was "surprised" by him not mentioning Behind My Camel, the Police song he obviously loves most.

TOWOS, you are probaly right. It just seemed at the Louisville gig, and really, even in Charlottesville, that Sting was almost joyful making music w/ The Guys. My ol' optimistic witfulness......or matbe Sting really IS a great actor  .
No matter, onstage mention of Miss Gradenko, fantastic!!!

Oh he would never admit it. But he always thought the others' compositions were garbage, and wasn't shy in letting them know, or burying the tapes in the garden....

It does not look like he likes Mrs. Gradenko, because when he likes a song of Stewart's (Contact, DES, Darkness) he sings them.

I couldn't resist bumping this. A strange interlude in The Week.

(I'm sure Sting has a place in his heart for Miss Gradenko and Mother, and Adam Ant should be hugely flattered that his jacket was mentioned in dispatches by Dietmar on the morning of MSG.)

Strange indeed. I remember grumbling quite a bit about a couple of us lacking access to this event (curiously enough, mostly those of us who had been highly vocal in our displeasure towards tpt.com in the past...but we'll leave it at that...) I still had a great day hanging out with Dive buying beads in downtown Manhattan, retrieving Pecos from Amtrak hell (met her under the Police "station" there, of course!), and then going to a very bizarre play featuring my favorite actor and enjoying his company for a late dinner afterward. Made up for missing the taping...pretty much...especially considering our excitement for the following day!
