Q on 2 Stewart songs + great interview link

Postby njperry on 13 Apr 2009 14:26

Looking at the Stewart page at his management company, Derek Powers Co., there are 3 Stewart soundclips in the upper right corner of the page:

http://artists4film.com/index.cfm?JID=9 ... &StoryID=2

The first two are songs I have never heard of, "He Come Back" and "Crouching Tiger." (The 3rd is a press clip about the Police tour.)

Crouching Dragon sounds like a Spyro tune to me.

Does anyone have any info on these tunes or if the fuller versions are available somewhere?

[ETA: changed the thread title to reference the interview Conroy posted.]

This interview provides a clue:

My uneducated guess is that Stewart was apparently hired to do the score to Iron Monkey, a great 1993 Kung-fu that was basically the kung-fur version of Superman (so there is an indirect Kryptonian connection) that was re-packaged and released on DVD in the US due to the popularity of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. But it looks like it might have been one of those deals where Stewart might have been replaced with a different composer like what happened with Sliver and Mobsters. Or perhaps it was an alias with a kyrptic meaning since Michael Dittrick is listed in IMDB as the music editor and he's edited most of Stewart's film scores.

Lovely interview, Conroy. Thanks for sharing.
The flag line is funny. So is the part when Stewart says he thinks it strange for audience members to go to multiple shows on a tour.
He took the words right out of my mouth with his comments about Paul Simon's "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes". After all these years that song still melts me every time.
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.

I love this line:

[quote]My attitude about Napster is that musicians need two things: they want to be heard, and they need to be paid. I've got a day job, so I don't need to be paid. I want to be heard.

Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

My favourite quote:

[ I like playing drums. ]

Hmm, Andy didn't strike me as "grouchy"

And thanks, Conroy.
