I cannot begin to describe how badly that is breaking my brain. Sometimes I forget that which was culturally contemporaneous with the music I first loved, and then I stupidly click on a link and I remember just how much I needed music in the late 70s/early 80s. I swear without new wave I'd have thrown myself under the Benny Hill Show in protest....

I have to confess to a total soft spot for Benny Hill. As soon as I hear that music, I am instantly transported back to being a little kid watching the US reruns of the Benny Hill Show with my grandfather, who absolutely ADORED his show. It was like a nightly 7:30 ritual in our house for a good many years.

OH, and this Benny Hillification by a friend of mine has had me in stitches all night:

And I swear, the only way this clip makes ANY sense whatsoever is via Benny Hill:

benny hill filmed at my school when i was a kid... it was a private school with shit loads of grounds and we were kept well away from the risque scantily clad women..... i remember watching them run around quickly by the assembly hall or by the trees by the gym etc etc, very odd as a 12 year old.

ETA:woah!! just watched it! KK IS scary; was made for it.....

'so lonely' is good too; especially andy's microphone flick at 30 seconds, and gordo's crazy legs dance at a minute or so..... love that dance.

ETA (again) : 'dancing in the streets' is a winner!

if anyone bennyhilled a madness video i'm not sure you would be able to tell the difference.... whats the one with lee thompson (?) swinging in the air playing the sax?

Dancing in the streets is definitely my favorite among these links. I knew it would be funny as soon as I saw the words on the screen! Thanks, Sockii!

Dancing in the Street seems actually to keep the Benny Hill's theme time better than any vids (OMG how many times does Bo twirl around Mick? Never noticed in the slo-mo version!)
