Okay, I found a picture I want to use in my little square to the left - I uploaded it twice, it said my profile had been changed, but it still just has a little square with an X in it.

A few quick tips to get the avatar to show..


you cannot upload straight from your computer, you need to use flickr or photobucket to upload the picture to. Then then link to that offsite avatar in your profile.

Also check the size of the image you are using.

...it's just a cute picture of my daughter Carrie sitting on Michael Stipe's lap when she was 6 - I use it as my screen saver. Okay, so this isn't Murmurs.com, but the picture is really cute.

Are you uploading?

As you have to use the link to offsite avatar option and use the URL in flickr for that pic.

Is there a reason so many features are disabled on this forum? Not having bbcode (and having to manage the quote tags in my head) is almost a deal-breaker for me.

A couple of years ago, the forums were hacked which caused a lot of strange things to happen, and the boards were down for a short while.

They had to restore from backups so a few posts got deleted. I believe Team Italia, decided not to enable those features that could cause it to happen again.

Just one of the quirks of this site, but we love those quirks. Eugenio does a great job of keeping things running.

Hmmm... I've known forums to switch software over such issues (to IPB instead of phpBB). I appreciate what Gio is doing, though. I wish there was a FireFox plug-in to render the bbcode on the browser end. That would make it so much easier to read.
