U2 have revealed the five ways their new album No Line on the Horizon will be available on March 3rd. Besides compact disc and double vinyl, Horizon will also be offered as a $36 digipak featuring a 36-page booklet, a poster and a downloadable film directed by Anton Corbijn “featuring the music of U2.” $50 will get you the same package, except this time its housed in a “soft cover magazine-style book” with a 60-page booklet. Then there’s the Box Set version, which is pretty much the magazine version with a hardcover book, a second poster and a $96 price tag, according to Amazon. Hopefully the differences between the three deluxe packages will become more clear as we move closer to release date, as an additional $46 for hardcover may be a bit much with a recession going on. The track list has still not been announced, but “Crazy Tonight,” featuring Will.i.am, is expected to make the final cut.

Just noticed that my title of this thread may be misleading. I think U2's cd will also be available at normal CD prices for a stripped down version.

That was my immediate wonder.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

People can say what they want about U2, but Boy is still one of my favorite albums of all time.

You'd think they'd have incentives other than making MORE MONEY at this point...this is pretty silly.

I dunno. I think it's kind of a good idea. You KNOW some of us would gladly lay out the coin were it a new, um, Police release. Just sayin'.

I was just thinking I'd kind of like to see U2 again, maybe now that the hysteria over them has died down some. Last tour I saw was Joshua Tree (one of *my* favorite albums of all time.)

My first thought was "whoa, cool!" because their special editions are very nicely done. High quality packaging, nice photos, good extras (Joshua Tree came with all the b-sides and a separate DVD of a previously unreleased concert from that tour!)

BUT my other reaction is I know I am going to be tighter with my money in 2009.

But those are the list prices, then if you wait till it goes on sale, get a coupon, etc., it becomes *slightly* more tolerable.

I have seen them on every tour since the 1986 Amnesty International tour. Do go see them if you even *think* you want to.
