URGH! A MUSIC WAR

VH1 classic is broadcasting this (rarely seen) film. I didnt catch much of it last night but what I saw was great, fantastic performances from a number of then-new bands like Echo and the Bunnymen, XTC and also the Police. I cant tell from their website when or if it's going to be re-broadcast, but they usually play things a few times over a week - get that TIVO ready! :D

I only have The Police footages (15 min) and I'd like to see more. Unfortunately I don't have VH1... a DVD release would be cool !

I have watched this film actually in a cinema in Paris in the 80's.
How many of you saw this as a real film in a cinema ?
There were I think other two people with me. It was very nice to see it on the big screen and on those big speakers, not like being at the show but....
I saw it two times, the second one for the details..

Ciao

I saw it too. Thanks to Kim, I think, who posted about it to begin with. It's just fabulous, but the print VH1 has is terrible.

I'm going to put this on my wish list. Remastered, rereleased, in digital video!! Hey, we can always hope, right?

It was screened in Italy as well, but couldn't make it in time to see it (it stayed just a few days...)

Divemistress, I think Ian mentioned it was a nightmare to put it out on dvd due to all the copyrights involved... I think Stewart can tell you about that!

But, there's hope, because Stewart was there with his camera. I think he mentioned that putting those reels together might be a future project.

I'm hoping Stewart's project focuses on the full Police concert from Frejus.

I think I've worn out my VHS copy watching "Driven to Tears" and "Roxanne."

This looked like an incredible show. Even if you have to make it super pricey to pay for the licensing, I think there are enough dedicated Police fans out there that will pay for it.

surely the funniest clip i've ever seen is the clip from frejus (i think) in 'Around the World...' when someone throws some shit at gordo and it hits him on the arm.... he loses it (justifiably)... the thing that kills me is the shot just after with Andy and Stewart both looking away and pretending not to notice........ LOL!
