grammy show, comment

this is the first time in a long long time that the Grammy awards show has something to look forward to seeing. My wife and I are even having friends over "to watch a television show." THAT's never happened in my home. I remember the 1984 show with Prince performing and Cyndi Lauper was fun to see back then. THAT was a good show. I can't really remember anything really exciting happening on the Grammys since then.

Yeah. For me Grammys show is some kind of boring.

For me The Police presentation is the most important and gorgeous gig in Grammys history.

Grammy poll up at the moment, http://www.grammy.com:

The Police are reuniting on the GRAMMY Awards. What’s your favorite Police song?

Roxanne 26%
Message 26%
Every Breath 43%
De Do Do Do 6%

(I voted for DDDD...guess I'm always tempted to support the underdog...;))

Hey all, I just had a thought: What about the ratings?

Not that there's any pressure on our guys or anything (geez, I can just imagine. Or I'd like to think I can, anyway)...but it'll be interesting to see if folks tune in in droves to see this. Might give us some idea of what the scale might be for whatever comes next.

Yeah, I thought about ratings too. That's why they didn't keep the reunion a secret - they wanted to promo it during the Superbowl, etc. Seriously, if it weren't for the tribute to Ian later I'd be tempted to turn it off after the opener. What could top that?! Actually I watch it every year to cheer for alternative acts but I TIVO it and only watch about a quarter of it. You never know when someone you like will actually win, or if Sting will be a presenter, or whatever.

TIVO is actually a really good idea on this one. Did you see the rest of the list? I definitely wouldn't skip out completely.

Stevie Wonder, Smoky Robinson, Earth Wind and Fire, Lionel Richie, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Gnarls Barkley. I still think Cristina Aguilera's performance will surprise the non-believers too, she's really got some pipes and her writing has drastically improved over the last album. Anyone heard "Hurt"?

Presenters include Burt Bacharach, Natalie Cole, Chris Rock, Tony freakin' Bennett, Melissa Etheridge, Ornette Coleman, Joan Baez, and Seal.

I seriously think this will be the best Grammy show in a long long time.

Mmmm... Do you think Sting will suffer from wardrobe dysfunction?
