Police Schedule Post-Grammy Press Conference

After weeks of speculation, a press conference and "special announcement" featuring rehearsals by the Police is set for Monday (Feb. 12) at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, Calif., the day after the band will reunite for a show-opening performance at the Grammys.

The 11 a.m. PT press conference and special announcement via live satellite broadcast is widely expected to be regarding a 30th anniversary world tour by the seminal rock trio.

The press conference announcement was made by promoter Live Nation. Given that, it is a likely assumption that Arthur Fogel, chairman of global touring for the company, will oversee the tour under LN's TNA International banner. Fogel and TNA have a past history producing Sting's world tours, and last year presented international runs by U2 and Madonna.

For those of you who were in the USA and alive in 1980, this entire tour possibility process is like watching the USA beat the Soviets in the Olympics in 1980, as they desperately clung to a one goal lead in the final 10 minutes.

With this latest announcement of a post Grammys press conference, it is like there is one more minute to go in the game. And we have the lead.

the problem for me, though, is that I teach a class starting exactly at that time.

so should i take advantage of the fact that the classroom has a computer and projector to log on to some police-related website to find the news during class? would my students care? ugh.... i guess i'll be able to wait an hour....

Hey!! two of our people will be there! Maybe those folks can send details via IM to someone who can post it here. (I have a Treo cellphone and can actually get online with it, but something about the .php we use here on the forum makes it cough up hairballs, unfortunately...maybe someone else would have better luck though, who knows.)
