There is something that needs to be mentioned when discussing tinnitus:
You CAN get well.
At least I have.
I´ve had it for a year and a half. I think I´ve had it for years, but never noticed it until it got worse when I had an ear infection. A year ago the tinnitus was really bad and I think I was close to going insane. I was a wreck basically.
Then I started collecting information about it on the internet (e.g tinnitus.org), and found out that it´s possible to overcome it.
I made a decision one day to not let the ringing in my ears reduce my quality of life. I accepted that it´s there and tried to not let it scare me.
And then (and very surprisingly) it started to fade out of my conciousness. And now, I don´t notice it much anymore. I think it´s as loud as it used to, but I can´t really tell.
It´s like in my office now, there are sounds from the ventilation system and from the lamps, but I never really notice it so it´s not a problem.
It´s the same way with tinnitus.
I can go for weeks now without thinking about it or noticing it. And when I do, it doesn´t scare me.
And when it´s not a problem - then I would say I´m cured.
It´s SO important that people with tinnitus don´t make it more of a problem than it is. It´s not the end of the world!
