Not sure if this was ever posted before but I thought it was interesting given the recent announcements. I wonder when the reunion talks actually started.

Copeland talks Police, reveals new film project

The drumming legend doubtful of a reunion

Former Police drummer Stuart Copeland has been taking about his time in the Police, revealing his 'envy' at acts like the Rolling Stones who still record and tour together.

Speaking on BBC's Radio 5 this morning (March 2) to promote his judging role in 'Just the Two of Us' on BBC 1, the 'Synchronicity' star revealed his longing to reform the Police, and an interesting new film project due to bow in the summer.

"Sting runs ten miles a day. Now I don't have that sort of energy any more, but I know I would definitely still be up there," he said. "I think if we did get back together, it would be great. Performing recently at the House of Blues, that was so enjoyable. But, I don't think it's going to happen."

"Sting was always going to go solo, it's in his mentality," revealed Copeland when asked about the band's demise. "We had him for eight years with us and we were lucky to get that I think.

Copeland now leads a hugely successful life as a composer, landing Oscar and Grammy nominations for a variety of projects. He also teaches drums.

When asked about how he feels to see acts like the Rolling Stones still together and touring arenas, he added, "It's a little sad, but I am a little envious."

Copeland finished by revealing details on a new Police film project he'd been working on, amassed from old footage he'd taken himself during the band's heyday.

"Its all from a first person perspective. So, on the left hand side of the screen is the back of the blonde singer, on the right is the guitarist.

"Everyone's staring into the lens screaming, Stuart, Stuart. Cameras are pointed at you, in your face, shouting 'Stuart, Stuart'. Journalists are putting mics right in your face. It comes out in the summer, I believe. "

"Back in Los Angeles, this film has consumed my life, and talk of the police is at its highest in twenty years."

Here we were thinking nothing more can be expected. Here we are now about the enter the lions mouth in terms of musical experieneces. Hope hope hope...

If it happens, I think the tour is an allround positive. It would be great to hear more than just the singles and songs from Reggatta in particular would be very welcome.

Tracking SC.net is going to be fantastic over 2007 if the band decides to tour again.
